The changeover was straightforward, and the service is fine; but I am annoyed that they have rejected my £25 commission claim through the TopCashback website, which should have been paid. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

My £35 cashback with Quidco (now only £28) has validated Ok, but not paid yet.
You were not referred by someone else were you, if so that invalidates the cashback as they will not pay two incentives which is understandable.
You can ask why it has been refused, join the plusnet forum, they normally answer your problems pretty quickly.
  • I am lucky to be in a market 3 area so have got the permanent £5.99 deal..

Can someone please explain to me what the "market 3 area" is, I presume it is something to do with LLU exchanges or is it another term for the new fibre enabled exchanges?

You are almost correct with LLU. Market 3 (and 4) are exchanges where there is a lot of competition to the BT provided ADSL circuits, and of course the competition comes from the companies who have unbundled the circuit by installing LLU. These competitors have lower prices so the BT circuits and those who piggy back on Bt MAY also have reduced prices.
If you wish to find out if your exchange is Market 3 or not go to the Samknows website, find your exchange and then scroll down to the bottom right hand side and it tells you.

No, that isn't it. I've submitted another claim query (the cash back is still on offer). If I don't get the money, I will cancel the contract at the end of the 18 month period.

Seems a bit extreme for the sake of £25, especially if you are happy with the service. Why not try the forum, they do seem to be very helpful.

Much obliged for the clarification - so no, it doesn't apply to my exchange "out in the sticks" We have BT Wholesale only here - think I will stick with Primus ....

    Thanks

Each time I have checked my line I have been informed that the best I can hope for is 512 Kb. I live 4.76 Km from Lydd, Kent exchange which seems to be a predominately BT wholesale exchange. People in New Romney living 1/2 a mile from their exchange get 8 Mb no probs. C'est la vie.

Might be worth asking what sort of speed you could get over at the plusnet community forum. The plustnet comms team are there and should be able to help. James does popup on MSE from time to time so he may respond.
