Sony Ericsson W705 - Walk Mate

Hi,

I just received my Sony Ericsson W705 on Orange and I can't find how to use the Walk Mate. I can't even find where it is on the phone!!!

Is it an additional application that I need to download? If so, where can I get it?

it does look like an additional app which orange have removed (probably one of many things orange remove).

menu -> organiser -> applications -> walkmate

its at the very bottom. I havent got it to work very well, it double counts each step lol!

Well, that would be where I would have expect it to be, but it was not there on my phone. Just checking the link suggested and downloaded the fine. Will see if I manage to get it working...

If you are missing any other applications, there are some free ones on the sonyericsson website itself. The only annoying thing is that you have to search through their annoying wap website to find them. (some might not even be on their wap website like yahoo go, so i had to go get it elsewhere) :rolleyes:

Just pick your phone(w705) on the left, then go through the free applications available. here



My W705 from o2 cant stream from youtube via wifi. (Since I didnt get a data package, I cant try that option).
I've downloaded the youtube application but only 1 in 10 videos work, so fustrating. Can you tell me if it works for you? :j

I don't use youtube - never found it interesting, sorry. I did look through sony applications for my phone, but walkmate is not on there. I did download the waterlebel, which is quite good and worked for us building the wardrobe this weekend!

Well, I emailed Sony Ericsson to find out what I can do, and here is their reply:

"Thank you for your query regarding downloading Walkmate on your Sony Ericsson W705.

From time to time network customisation can take certain applications off your handset.

Unfortunately if Walkmate is missing from your handset you would not be able to put it back on your phone."

I sent an email to Orange to complain a bit and ask what can they do to rectify the situation...

Orange replied that I can't have the Walkmate application, with which I am rather annoyed. Will have to see where to get it from as I really want it!!!!!!

with the file that i linked to in the 2nd post, you have to extract it (using winrar) then put it on the phone either via bluetooth/data cable/memory card. make sure the .jar file you extracted goes into the others folder on the phone or the memory card.

browse to the file manager (or whatever orange rename it to) and highlight the file you just copied to the phone and press install.

ps. next time don't get an orange or vodafone branded sony ericsson then you won't have as many problems

It works!!! (well, at least those 11 steps around the ground floor). Now, how can I put it as a wallpaper? Everytime I try, it says 'Operation failed'.... Is it only with specific themes or something that it works? Or is it another Orange trick?

I can change my wall paper with no problem, looks like another orange trick lol.

I'm sorry to hear you are having loads of problems due to orange branding on your phone!

Anyway, i am seriously looking to sell my phone (if i can get good money to buy a new one)... i dont see anything special with it ANYMORE. The wifi with youtube doesnt work, after downloading the youtube application loads of times.
Also the speakers at the back, so it is really inconvenient for loud music .

My slider is shaking right now, after 6 weeks :eek:. Hows the build of your phone going?
