How do I write/send parcel to people in the forces?

Options
Hey all,

I was very privilaged today, along with the young people I work with, to spend the day with an army regiment who very kindly showed off all their equiptment, took us on tank rides etc.

It was an amazing day, and my young people gained a lot from it.

I would like to know how we can repay their efforts by sending letters or small parcels to them (and any other of the forces)? Does anyone know how we can do this?

I know the regiments name, and that they are being posted to Afghanistan shortly.

TIA

I think your best bet is to contact the regiment directly and ask them if there is a regiment contact out there that you and your young peeps can send stuff to. I know that certain BFPO addresses are free to post to (if under 2kg) but this is supposed to be for family and friends only so probably best check with the regiment first :)

If not then there is always E-blueys - basically e-mails that get printed off out there - again you need contacts out there so again regiment for details :)

Try contacting the "unit welfare officer" who is also the "families officer". he/she will be able to advise on what the guys/gals woud llike and how best to get it them.

Who have a network of local co-ordinators and who could arrange for parcels you donate to reach personel in your chosen regiment as far as possible:T

Very interested in this as well. I remember watching a programme whereby people sent shoe boxes filled with goodies that were ramdomly passed out to serving soldiers abroad, anyone has any info on this? Thanks

ideally you need to have some one's name because parcels addressed to " a squaddie in afghan" is a low priority as stores and parts take priority.

Contact the guy who organised your trip today and ask him if there is any young lads on his regiment that dont get much mail or would like to correspond with you etc. if you send out a parcel without their name on it, if it gets delivered they just get shared out with anyone out there.

if you do write to any of them be aware of squaddy humuor its a lot darker than what you civvys are used to!! what you may find shocking, will probably not shock most people in the armed forces, because of the stress and images we see we are a lot more tolerant of nasty stuff!

    hope this helps you

Thats support our soldiers cookie monster You can PM me for further details or see the website. Any and all support is greatly valued by the charity who are all volunteers and who work really hard to ensure parcels get sent regularly to those serving, with priority given to those who dont recieve much from home.

Parcels to "a soldier" are no longer accepted by BFPO they have to be properly addressed or sent via support our soldiers who are BFPO and MOD approved
