I use the Kirkland washing powder, it's very good. I don't like the smell of it though. I mix it with Surf to make it smell better.

I use Kirkalnd washing powder too, but have to use something else on the white school shirts etc. as it just doesn't bring them up 'white' (or anything close)
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Ref the earlier posting about Costco ownbrand bedding - I have the sheets/duvet cover (I think they were 540 threadcount) and think they are wonderful - wash well and so comfortable to sleep on (they feel really silky they are so smooth - even without ironing (although ironing makes them even nicer))

Kirkland washing powder is fine as is their fabric conditioner. I've been sensitive to washing powder/conditioner in the past so I'm a bit careful but it's good stuff.

As an aside, Costco guarantee that any Kirkland product will be as good as the branded market leader for what ever that product is.

Edited to add: don't use too much of it as it's very frothy!

I agree, their washing powder is excellent :)

I bought one last year after reading great reviews on here but I'd say the following about it:
    1) the lid is flipping hard to get off the box!
    2) the smell when you open the box takes my breath away ( and not in a good way) its a chemical clean smell iykwim
    3) I find it is too harsh on colours and fades the colours really quickly
    4) as another poster said its not great on whites
    5) but it does last forever as you only need about a tablespoon full for each wash and so I am persevering.....

Not trying to be a party pooper but just so your expectations weren't too high like mine possibly were! HTH!
To infinity and beyond - but mostly to Tesco!:D

Maybe its worth trying the Formel one from Lidl - Which magazine did a test and this came out well, along with bold, ariel etc. It said that bio cleaned better than non bio.
Personally I buy whatever is on offer - currently surf and persil liquid is stockpiled as you can use less than recommended and lots of places were selling the bottles for £4 before Christmas. HTH

These are good points, I don't remember it having a particularly strong smell but it is a while since I bought any. If you use a fabric softner then you can't really smell the detergent anyway and if you're just wanting something cheap and cheerful for whites/light colours it's not bad stuff and it does last for ages as you only need to use about a tablespoon.

On the down side, if you wash a lot of bright or dark colours, this isn't the best detergent for you as cal1980 mentions it does fade your colours somewhat and I'd personally recommend you use powder or liquid that's specifically for colours.
If I have been of any assistance, or my information is useful, please press the "Thanks" button :)

I had a look a few pages back, and couldn't see an answer - when did costco stop printing the prices in their voucher books? £50 off the TV sounds good but I don't know the prices any more...

Must admit Surf liquid is my preferred detergent, I think it's really efficient and smells nice - especially the 'Tropical' one in the pink/white bottle. (I don't use fabric softener, nasty stuff). I too stockpiled a load when it was on offer last year, and you only use a tidgy capful per load, so it's lasts ages ;)
