Hi all, going to join Costco tomorrow, my Mum's company have got on the list and are offering membership through them. I am having the second card so we're going to take the form down tomorrow and join. I have had a search through the forum and can't for the life of me find much information on if we'll need to take any forms of ID/photos or anything down? Or do they take your photo with a webcam or something while you're there?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

Hi, they take your photo there and then, I can't remember what id I took now, certainly my driving license I would have thought.

Thanks, I carry my driving licence with me so should be fine for that. I read somewhere this morning that a pay slip and utility bill were needed, but not sure if I'd need the pay slip as I don't work for the company my Mum works for. I suppose if I take all of the above then I can't go much wrong really, just didn't fancy a trip there to be told I didn't have the right id! lol.

Why don't you ring the branch, they are really helpful over the phone and it would be silly to get there and discover you don't have the right things with you.

Your mum will need ID with name & address, plus a payslip to prove she works for the company, as she will be the 'primary' member. You will just need something with your name & address on it - driving licence will be fine. They take your photo and issue the cards there and then. Enjoy!

Am I right in thinking a member can take along 2 friends?

Yes, but they aren't allowed to pay for anything themselves, so the member has to pay and divvy up later.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Depends on the cashier on the day.

Agreed, and I do find the cashiers are extremely inconsistent, but the 'official' line is as I said, and it is best that the poster is prepared for that outcome at the till, rather than being caught by surprise.

We find in Aberdeen Costco the guests can pay as long as its with cash only. We usually always have my parents and aunt with us and they always pay for their own.
