  • I LOVE Costco and it definitely pays for itself!!!
It is great at Christmas - both for stuff you don't see elsewhere and for being cheaper - we got the Ben10 Four Arms costume for alomst 1/2 the price of Toys R Us. They have gorgeous decorations too and the wrapping paper is about £5.00 for a huge roll and is so thick - no accidently putting your finger through it before the big day!!!!
Bargains for us are Pepsi 2l - about £5.50 for 8 bottles - even BOGOFS struggle against that. And the individual microwave pepperoni pizzas are aobut £4.50 for 8 - they cost about £1.80 for 2 at Asda!!
I have also found that they are great for returns - I even took some contact lenses back - they jsut check that you actually bought them there and give you your cash - didn't even ask what the problem is - they could teach other shops a thing or two about customer service!!!!

Any of the Kirkland washing powder fans allergic to persil?
I'm allergic to all persil and comfort products
I really don't want to buy such a huge pack for it to then give my son and I hives
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

  • Their customer service attitude is "the customer is always right!".You can get a full refund on your membership at any point with no question asked!

I worked at costco as a temp over xmas a few years ago and was told you could do it on the last day of your membership and then join again a few weeks later!!

    Their meat is lovely!!!!!!!!!!
  • We find that paper products, (loo rolls, tissues and kitchen wipes) are much cheaper than super markets. Also cat food, bird food and fruit and veg, if you can use large quanties. Fruit and veg is good quality. Detergents are in very large sizes but much cheaper if you have the storage space. Wine is cheap but for the sub £10 bottles, you have to buy boxes of 6. Water and cola is cheap but we have been disappointed in the quality of party food and other prepared meals.

From meat I am big fan of their pork loin. I am yet to try their chicken.
The chicken is cheep! (Sorry, I'll get my coat...) We don't buy their packed chicken breasts, but they do lovely whole free range (or organic??) chickens.

If you like the pork loin then try some of the other cuts. We recently started buying the raw pork ribs (not the cooked ones in the hot cabinet) and just love them.

Pay day today so I'll be off to Costco on Saturday for our monthly monster credit-crunch shop ;)

    TYRES...

Cheapest price for budget brand at local tyre shop £95, but the bloke said it would only last 12 months. Quoted £175 for Michelin, so walked away.
Costco, Michelin Energi (exact match for rest of tyres) £99 fitted.

Great baragain... savings on just 1 tyre pay for three years membership!!!
As stated by Mallymal, Michelin tyres at Costco are significantly cheaper than most retailers/fitters. I have on a number of occasions priced up tyres at Costco and then checked 3 or 4 local tyre fitters only to be told they couldn't fit a budget tyre for that price, let alone a decent quality Michelin tyre, in fact since joining I haven't found quality tyres cheaper than Costco. Don't forget that fitting and balancing is included in the price Costco give you, rather than being added on top of what some places tell you in the office/over the phone. I have definitely saved more than my membership fee most years purely by buying one or two tyres from them.

I use Costco for various things, not just tyres, the only problem I've found is that the packs of anything you buy always look bigger once you've got them home:exclamati ...and you have to find somewhere to store your bulk buys.

With regard to the trans fats in birthday cakes at Costco - unfortunatley I think that you would be hard pushed to find a birthday cake that doesn't include trans fats at teh price that Costco sells them. The best way to make sure that they don't contain this sort of fat in baked goods is to make them yourself. As most people don't eat birthday cake on a frequent basis I hardly think it is a concern, much more worrying would be that daily biccy you dunk.

    Costco Electricals...

I'm a business member but was told on signing up that whatever electricals you buy, if something goes wrong, they'll take it back without warranty and for life!
I was surprised but they were dead serious!
They're not as cheap as the internet by any means but I'd certainly consider them if you'd usually pay extra for an extended warranty on top. Seemed like a great deal to me.

    Costco Meat...

Excellent value for money - fresh or frozen - high quality and much more generous.

    Bulk Goods...

Kitchen, Toilet Rolls, Foil, Cling Film - Lasts ages and excellent quality - good prices.

    Non Foods....

Amazing prices on dishwasher tabs - usually 50% extra free with top brands premium range - last ages for jaw dropping prices!
Washing tablets, fabric softener etc... must save hundreds a year for the average family.

i haven't read all the way through so sorry if someone has already said this - i love the branston baked beans. about 6 quid for 24 tins, which makes them a comparable (if not cheaper) alternative to budget beans in supermarkets. i think last time i looked asda smart price beans were nearly 30p per tin. and they are really tasty.

we also like the fresh olives and feta cheese, bagels, toys at christmas. also good for finding random american items that you don't see over here (like viva italian salad dressing, skippy PB, crunchy granola bars...)

we have also had a lot of electrical items, the prices are usually very good and the returns/customer service excellent.
Mortgage free as of 11/11/15 !
:Anow... to start some serious saving :A
