Alibobsy - did you manage to put the greenhouse up over the weekend?

No not done it yet. Was DD1 birthday on sunday, but thought we would get chance on saturday and monday. DD1 decided wanted to go swimming on saturday as a birthday treat instead of cinema later on. So spent most of the day on that. Then doing lots of baking and cooking for her party on sunday.
Monday came and it was lashing down and windy lol.
Managed to flatten the area we needed on sunday morning and bought the wood for the base OH is putting it on.
Got the instructions out to read and reread and it seems fairly straightforward. First dry day this week today but DD2 to little to trust out front whilst I start.

Waiting for her to have a sleep, so I can try to do the front and back panels to give us a head start for weekend. Fingers crossed for dry weather lol.

Well my Norfolk greenhouse is up and working hurrah :j.
Was it easy to put up, well no because the instructions aren't the clearest, but it wasn't nearly as bad as other reviews I read would suggest.
    Top tips
1)Get someone calm (probably female) to help with the instructions, I directed and OH buildt, as he got annoyed with the instructions and lost patience with them lol.
2)Sometimes it appear some holes don't line up, but the frame especially whilst being buildt is fairly flexible. Sometimes losening or tightening the other bolts on a joint helps or a bit of gentle pushing/pulling sorts things out.
3)The instructions aren't always that clear, but in a few cases we found getting the peices out and attempting to put them together makes the diagrams more clear, in most cases it is obvious when you see the peices "in 3d" as it were which way they went together.

All in all I think for the money its pretty good, obviously would love to have a solid Gh such as a Rhino, but can't justify the cost even if we had the cash going spare lol.

Sat in mine for ages yesterday afternoon listening to the rain and peace (I have 3 kids lol).

Off to continue filling my GH and finish off my fruit cage

    Hi,
I'm thinkin of getting a new hobby for me & the wife.
i've been looking at getting a greenhouse set up.
The size i've been looking at is about a 8x6 or there abouts.
i've been told by quite a few people that original glass ones are still the best but when i look on the net. it says that twin skin polycarbonate ones are the best to go for (triple if money is no object).
if they are where's the cheapest place other than ebay (i've seen some decent deals on there).
    any info gratefully accepted, thanks.

All Norfolk Greenhouses are available as STANDARD or ULTIMATE. The frames are identical but the STANDARD models are clad in traditional proven Norfolk Greenhouses manner with flexible PVC sheeting (on a roll) and sealed with transtape.

Why change a good idea that has worked well over the last 27 years?

This cost-effective covering is heat retaining, ultra-violet stabilised, clear as glass and so safe.

The ULTIMATE models are clad in glass clear panels of semi-rigid sheet cut to size with 5 year guarantee against deterioration which like flexible PVC has the same heat retention ultra violet stabilisation and safety properties, but looks even more like glass. The cut to size panels are easily clipped to the frame with attractive white or green trim eliminating all those clips normally used.

In addition ULTIMATE greenhouses have translucent twin wall roofing panels for added insulation and direct sunlight protection.

I dont know about the PVC on a roll one but mine is an Ultimate 6 when its up its quite solid and the side panels slip into the trim and then secured to the frame with screws so you dont get much movement in the glass. I have screwed it down to the concrete base and i am going to sleep in it tonight? (so the wife tells me anyway).

ALIBOBSY did you get the budget greenhouse?I'm considering ordering that one as i don't want glass either and as i have a small garden looks just about the right size. Can you post what its like when you put it up as i'd be very interested to know what its like before ordering.

I Talked to my Brother-in-Law and he said the plastic on the roll type is good its strong to. Same metal frames on all the Norfolk Greenhouses and you Can buy an upgrade kit at a later date if you want.

This is approx 6x4 and the only budget one. It has not got a window. The Standard ones are next.

    Standard 6

This is approx 6x6 1770mm wide x 1980mm high x 1770mm long and for the extra few quid i think is better value It has a window for Ventilation.
The pic for the Standard is the pic for Alibobsy's 8x6 or the Standard 8 there is no pic for the 6x6.
