  • Paid £77 off my Tesco c/c 2day.My car ins is up on 17 Nov so i got a quote off them for £275.65 last wk.Had a look on moneysupermarket and got a cheaper quote of £237.94 so i rang the ins co this morning 2 see if they could beat that price or at least match it so they came back with a price of £230.Happy days,i saved £45.65 on my car ins.Have 2 pay an Ulster bank c/c next wk so that'll bring my debt down under £2000:jWill start saving up for Christmas from this wk onwards,dont usually start buying presents till end of Nov/beginnin of Dec.
  • Paid £140 off my wifes Ulsterbank card which brings my bal down 2 less than £2000:jMy ds was 6 yesterday so we went to the cinema and that cost us £24 for a family ticket,the we went to a fancy restaurant for our tea which cost anoter £30,its not something we would do very often,we usually eat at home but it was a special occasion!
  • Hello everyone,am really !!!!ed off with myself,forgot to make a monthly payment on my rates/council tax last month and today i got a letter looking £206.07 and theyv'e given me only 10 days to pay it or else they are threatening to take me to court.I was paying in installments of £52 a mnth which was managable but now they are looking 4mnths in 1 go.Has anyone got any advice on what to do?Can only manage about half of what they're looking.:mad:

    Contact the council straight away and set up a standing order so that you don't miss any other payments. Make a payment as soon as possible so that they can see that you are not just ignoring them. All you can really do is ask - i would also write in if you don't get anywhere on the phone.

  • Hi there fellow dfws!Decided 2 pay my rates/council tax in full 2day,unfortunately had 2 use the £100 id saved for the groceries at the end of the wk:mad:Have 2 start saving up now,at least i dont have 2 put £52 aside every mnth till next April.Am just gonna take it easy from now till Christmas and am really proud getting my debt down 2 just over £1850.:D

    Did they not allow you to go back to monthly payments?
    Glad you're getting the debt down and were able to pay it off, but it still stinks that they did this.

  • Hello everybody,just planning 2 take it easy at the min and give myself a wee break till the new yr.Have signed up 2 Hypno's challenge 2 pay the rest of my debt off and have £10,000 saved up 2wards the extension by Christmas 2010.Will try 2 get as close 2 £10,000 as i can and it'll give me something 2 get my teeth into!Wish me luck everyone.:D
  • Hi and Merry Christmas! Just finished my Christmas shopping this morning and was able 2 buy all my Christmas presents with money,not like last yr when i put about £150 on Credit cards:eek:Am so proud of myself,unfortunetely this month i have only been able 2 manage min payments on my credit cards but at least i havent added any more debt 2 them and in the new yr i plan 2 get the debt down even further and start saving for this ext on the side of the house.Happy Christmas everyone!:j
