Can I buy an old cheap iphone and put my old 02 contract sim card in it?
Its very old contract pay up front for life, I get 50mins free every month as long as I dont go over I dont pay anything.
So its obviously an old 2G sim card. Can I get an old iphone (not 3g) and can I get online near to a wifi hot spot?0 -

Thanks for that, any idea where to get it from?
Prices are still high on ebay, when will the 1st gen iphone bottom out in price?
Can I still play all the new games and apps on the 1st gen machine?0 -
Data will probably be extortionate on that contract, make sure you are using wifi hotspot rather than O2s network for surfing.

Yes and No.
I am considering doing the same as i have an normal contract 500min+txt for 20p/m (not sure if its 3g?) w/o web/data bolt on.
Firstly I would ring to see if O2 will add this bolt on for you for 7.50p/m then you can use the net (called edge). Alternatively O2 do a simplicity sim deals +bolt ons which works with iphone and is reasonably priced. The only thing that doesnt work is virtual voicemail, everything else like the applications should do.
However if following the 2nd route, remember iphone deals with free fone are currently 35p/m whereas you will pay about 300 for phone from ebay on top of 20-30p/m for contract (simplicity or your current on with bolt on), so buying it direct is cheaper.0 -
the phone will automatically connect to both edge and cloud although there both very slow, edge will show as an E in the top left hand corner of the phone an cloud will show as a small circle0

I am currently on a rolling one month simplicity tariff with O2 paying £9.79 per month for 150 mins and 300 texts. This is after my contract had expired and I didn't want an upgrade so I agreed to switch to this as it was cheaper.
Can I buy an I-Phone on pay-as-you go for £342 direct from O2 and put my sim card in and get the above minutes and texts per month. I know I may have to request a 3G sim for O2 if I have an old sim card which I do.
Then add an internet bolt on to the simplicity tariff to get unlimited internet on the I-Phone.
I know I could get an I-Phone on an 18 or 24 month contract but don't really want to pay out £35 each month. If I buy one up front then its lower monthly cost which I would prefer.
I went into an o2 shop and they said I could not do the above but the women did not appear too convincing !0 -
if its not a 3g sim then no but you can get one from o2 free of charge an they just switch your number over to the new sim0

Bite the bullet - with any sim other than the one you get when buying, you can't use Safari or YouTube.0
