Well, ever heard of community spirit?

As for a lot of these comps, it helps if we all get together to find the answers. These are not the most taxing questions ever... but I imagine everyone who posts an answer on these forums has also been pleased to find one when they were a bit flummoxed.

    Play nice! :p

Every heard of ruining it for people who are actually intelligent enough to answer the question?

This thread is the complete opposite of community spirit.

For instance, if someone won a pub quiz by ringing his friend to find out every answer would that be okay? No you'd all kick off if you were one of the losing teams, and rightly so.

However, you think because this competiton is on the internet and you can't see anyones face then it's fine to cheat people who take the time to figure out the answer.

This thread has been viewed over 12000 times - meaning lots and lots of lazy people who can't answer the question have a chance at winning. If you can't answer the question then you shouldn't win the painting - simple as that.

amazing how stompycompy trolls seem to find themselves compelled to view these threads ..
here's some intelligent advice for those who take offense :
    a) do not to come here in the first place
    or,
    b) if you can't help yourself, you coul always answer the question first yourself, before you come here, so your "intelligence" does not feel despoiled y viewing the answer afterwards.

Blimey its all getting a bit heated on here...

We may have less of a chance to win but so what? chances are pretty slim already I shouldn't wonder... its a very valuable prize after all. I don't expect to win, its kind of more for the fun really, but with a tiny chance of winning something amazing.

Nowadays with the internet you can't control discussion and answer sharing, so like people before have suggested don't come on here if it makes you angry. Its a bit pointless people just coming on here to have a go at other people (whilst slying a look at the answers I imagine!).

Its just a bit of fun really... don't get so possessive about it, everyone has the right to enter and seek the answers any way they choose and people also are free to share the answers with others. Sorry there's nothing you can do about it. The compilers of the questions KNOW that, especially with the first question - designed by presupposing people will do an internet search and find the youtube video...

Its not the same as a pub quiz, pub quizzes have specific rules and are in set conditions, ie. you are supposed to use your own knowledge amongst your teams without any aids. So its hardly a fair comparison.

I know Guardian readers can be elitist - I am one :o - but stop having a go at everyone, its not up to you to decide who is worthy of entering/winning - if you don't like it, then you shouldn't come on here.

You will find that with most of the competitions on here the answer is given. That is 1 of the ideas of these threads. If you don't like it, why come on to these threads? Have you also gone onto the magazine comp threads and had a go at them for putting the answers on so people don't have to buy the magazine? I really enjoy these threads, and it's only a bonus if I happen to win anything.

It'd be kinda ironic if an idiot lazy person won a Damien Hirst painting, wouldn't it?

"meaning lots and lots of lazy people who can't answer the question have a chance at winning. If you can't answer the question then you shouldn't win the painting - simple as that."

-I'm sure Damien's giggling about it all. That's the twisted point really...
