Government incentive to change old cars

Unlikely to occur here as such a high proportion of cars we buy are made abroad so it would mainly help foreign producers.0

This thread seems to be in the Motoring section now
In my view a £2500 incentive to buy a brand new car is worth it for buying into new cars up to around about £14,000 list price, after that forgetting the £2500 and buying nearly new starts to work out cheaper when considering the real total ownership cost in the long run. You still have to be able to fund the other up to £11,500, but if you can do it it starts to become worth while compared to paying out £800+ a year in repairs on an older car, if your older car is costing you that.0 -
No doubt this £2500 will be off the list price, and not the dealer price once you take into account offers etc so you probably won't get anywhere near a 2.5k discount in real terms.0

Indeed, and no doubt full of small print/clauses.0 -
I think only Germany has done this scheme and car sales rose something like 20%. The incentive from the government was around the €2000 mark. I would be interested in the scheme as my car is 10 years old this year.
Yes they did.... And from Czech news I've heard that Skoda factory in the Czech Republic had to introduce Saturday shifts as they are selling like crazy to Germany!!:rotfl:0 -
Haven't this poor excuse for a government (and the other lot won't be any better either) learned anything at all.
When In Hole Stop Digging.
In other words stop throwing our money at insolvable problems that have been created on your watch and under your responsibility.0 -
Its going to be a £2000-£2500 fan fair PR stunt that generates little economic value...
