Government incentive to change old cars

I have heard a rumour that the government is considering giving cash incentives for people to scrap their old car, (10+ years), so that they may buy a new car. Apparently in other parts of Europe governments have done this to give the new car economy a boost and it has been very successful. Does anyone on this forum know any more about this for the UK?:o

What has that got to do with Credit Cards?
  • Nothing. Sorry you're absolutely right. This is the first time I have posted a thread and obviously I need a bit more practice. I will endeavour to post it in a more appropriate place.
  • I have heared that rumour too.
Not directly linked to credit cards though.

Daily mail had something about it a week or so ago.

They probably had an article about credit cards too.

I know that it is in the wrong place, but I am interested in doing this scheme if it is going ahead. Does anyone know if it is going ahead and where I would get more information from?

    Thanks

I think only Germany has done this scheme and car sales rose something like 20%. The incentive from the government was around the €2000 mark. I would be interested in the scheme as my car is 10 years old this year.
