The BTLers I know are doing very well, and wanting to buy more now that interest rates have dropped!
Sorry if this info isn't what you wanted to hear, but where, what and when you bought has made a difference. Some were canny then others!

Firstly they are all in it for the long term and no one can argue that over the long term (we could be talking half a century here) house prices will rise.
Next that even if house prices have dipped, not that they necessarily have, but even if they do then obviously they will just buy more, and be even more wealthy.
On the yield front (bit complicated this) basically it means rent v. mortgage, then yields are always good. Not specified necessarily, but definitely good.
All BTL owners on here are blessed with uncanny good fortune, having always bought and sold at the ideal time. They also have the blessing to have bought in areas unaffected by such trivia as a global housing crash.
You must finally appreciate that it is not the done thing to raise objections such as BTL's pricing out FTB's from the market. Far from it. The truth is that they stepped in when prices shot up in order to provide the FTB's with cumfurtable and luvverly below market cost rental accomodation.
In short the BTL's are saints, and the rest of us are not worthy.0 -
