And I'm sure if they had taken your money and not given you anything in return, you'd be just as relaxed about it all. You certainly wouldn't be on here throwing a hissy-fit about being ripped off.
After all, if they didn't ask you to send them money, then they could just keep it as a "gift".
No, then I would do a chargeback on my credit card? The customer is always right you know...0 -
Yes M&S sent a TV in error. Which means that they cannot demand payment for it. So when (or if) they realise what they have done, then they should collect it at their own expense. The simple fact remains, they made the mistake and they should rectify it. Why should he have to notify them of the mistake? He is not at liberty to do so in this case.
The OP knows it was sent by mistake though, and seems to be sitting on the moral fence, hoping they won't ask for it back so he can enjoy it all the while telling himself he has done the right thing.
It's like finding a wallet with the owner's name and address inside, but not returning it, instead waiting a few weeks for the owner to come looking for it before spending all the money yourself.
"Why should I do anything about it?"
"I'm not responsible for someone losing their wallet"
Some people are honest and try to treat others as they would like to be treated themselves, and some people are just out for what they can get.
I hope if you ever lose your wallet, someone who fits into the former category finds it.0 -
I'd tell M&S that your received a TV you didnt order, and are keeping it secure for them at cost of £25/day. Let them know it can be collected at certain times convenient to you and if not uplifted in 5 business days you will assume it was an unsolicited gift.0

Marty J. This is getting no where and there is no point in us arguing over this. Your right for what you believe in. No one will change that.
As the TV was delivered yesterday, let's see what happens today eh bigsquid??0 -
If they had already told you it was o/s, why did you accept the delivery, knowing it wasn't even the right model?
I see little point in keeping it unused in the box. You either open, use it and accept the possible consequences, or call them up and tell them to collect it.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
. Some of us [strike]end up with free TV's[/strike] are not honest and some [strike]send them back[/strike] are.
As I said before, people got to do what people got to do. But lets not try and dress it up as anything else other than what it actually is.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Hi.
Personally, i'd phone up and tell them about the mistake and then ask for "compensation" of sort, for the combined faff and hassle of having your original order cancelled and then having to wait around for the collection of the TV.
M&S CS are generally very easy to talk to and if you explain the situation i'm pretty sure you'll get some vouchers. You can then use these against the TV you originally ordered and actually wanted!
But this is my opinion and what I'd do.
Good luck0 -
A few years ago I had four complete PC systems (and monitors) delivered by mistake from Dell. It took up much of my lounge for the day.
I had the same dilemma as you, what to do. I contacted Dell the next day and they sent a driver to collect, not so much as a thanks or mouse mat for my trouble!
Make your own conclusion from that!
Did you sign for them? If you did... why?
If this had happened to me, I personally would have refused delivery, not signed for them and the delivery driver couldn't have left them in the first place - return to sender. Last thing I'd want is a set of massive dirty boxes filling up my house!0 -

All very good advice there but the only reason he ordered the TV from M&S in the fist place was because it was £300 cheaper than anywhere else. If they sent him that value of vouchers then great but I doubt it. The TV will just have to be the compensation now. :rotfl:0 -
So then bigsquid... as you have gone all quiet on us, what didi you do in the end?? Please say you still have it!0
