Thanks for the reply, i was just curious to know if there are different tariffs like with economy 7 or are we just stuck with the high rates because you are the only supplier?
Hi Spearmint
I'm afraid there is only one Economy 10 tariff although discount is available if payment is made by Monthly Direct Debit.
Other suppliers do support this meter so you are not tied to us. It would be an idea to have a look round but you will need to do this directly with other companies as Economy 10 is not listed on the comparison sites as far as I'm aware.
Don't mean to teach you how to suck eggs Spearmint, but are you taking advantage of the three periods during the day when electricity used is charged at the cheaper rate?
You always have the option of changing the meter to a standard type. However, it would be best to take technical advice from a qualified electrician before doing this as these meters are wired directly into your heating system.
Hope this helps but give me a shout if you need any more info. Always happy to help.

Hi Malc
Thanks for your reply, no worries about telling me something i might already know.
I thought that was the case, we looked into paying by DD but simply couldn't afford it as it worked out to be double what we pay by standing order and we can only just afford that amount.
We have tried lots of companies and nobody will supply us and the reason given is that it's because we have 2 supply numbers. From who we've spoken to we think you are the only ones we do E10 where we live.
Well as far as we were aware the 10 hours of cheap electric is only available to the storage heaters and the hot water heating and that the cheap rate for everything else is 12am-7am. Have we been told wrong then?
We have 3 meter readings - day rate, night rate, heater & water rate.
I think we would be worse off with E7 as we'd need to buy and run extra heaters on the day rate and obviously no good on just a standard tarrif.
I do appreciate your advice and information"I am an insomniac, so I was really excited when I was able to get a full night's sleep. I said to a friend, 'Just keep your fingers crossed that I get lucky again tonight!' Realizing what I said, I tried to correct it and said, 'No, I mean, I just hope that I get some tonight!' After that, I decided to shut up."0 -
Hi Spearmint.
Always happy to try and help.
You are right about the afternoon and evening periods being for storage heating and water only; whilst the night period is for all usage. The actual times vary depending on the area.
Give me a shout if you are unsure about the actual timings and let me know the region you are in. Will find out for you.
