  • Hi,
havebeen managing my own dmp for nearly a year and most creditors have accepted my offers which are reviewed every 6 months. Except for Cahoot who refuse to accept anything . has anyone else dealt with them?, I just dont know what to do with them next.

    Hi all,
Just a quick pop in - no more acceptances but not an awful number of letters either - very odd.

Some VERY good news - finally, after about 5 letters and 3 months, the bank has accepted our hardship claim and have offered to pay us £2K! So happy, this will keep us going until OH gets work, then the remainder will go to the debts.

So to anyone in the process of claiming charges...do it! Now we just have to wait for the money.

    Well done imclean,

Its good to make contact with CCCS and National Debtline for advice - and their template letters are great. Also, when you contact both you will be given a reference which can give your letters some clout. I never say I'm in a DMP with CCCS but I quote the references and state I have taken advice and calculated my reduced payment offers in conjunction with the advice of National Debtline and CCCS.

I assume you will write back to the creditor who have stated they cannot provide the CCA to let them know the account is in default now, until such times as they CAN provide a CCA - also that they consider reducing the balance to zero and closing their file.

Unfortunately many debtors do choose to ignore our letters but ensure you keep accurate records yourself! Well done, any advice just post or send any of us a PM x Julie

Thanks, I've made my reduced payments. Sent off the account in dispute letter to Littlewoods at the end of September but received a default letter on Saturday so sending a reminder that when account in dispute they can't do anything. Still receiving phone calls from Capital One dispite them receiving the only communicate to me in writing letter. The wrote back and said that they had the right to phone me, PM'd CCCA and they advised that I report Capital one to Office of Fair Trading. Barclays have sent a final demand but can't pay that. Santander want me to send proof of income, bank statements and utility bills, just going to write to them to say nope.

Apart from that it's been quite quiet.

  • Hi

Yes, done the debt remedy already. Quite scarey.

I PM'd CCCA about giving out the reference number and they said not to give creditors your reference number as it means that they can go in and look at your information.

    Hi Kat

Sorry about the delay in replying - things have been a bit manic here with the kids being back to school etc.

Today I have rec'ed another letter (snotty at that) from Capital One saying that "I can be assured that they can request these documents without a court order"!!!

Have you had any further contact with them. They are refusing to accept my offer (for OH account - my account they seem to be handling differently:confused:) and freeze interest:mad:.

Need to go an research a reply to them - complete and utter !!!!!holes:p

Been working long hours and neglecting MSE!

I got a letter this week saying that have issued a default and will take further action, so either they will pass the debt to a DCA (hopefully!) or they will take me to court (hope not!), so I will keep you posted. I will keep paying and will have to wait to see what happens.

In terms of my business account and credit card I may have finally made some leeway with that. I spoke to a lady today who said they may be able to merge them into the one account and set my overdraft limit to cover the balance, that way I won't have any more charges applied and they will accept my payment of £30 and the amount will slowly reduce, fingers crossed this will actually happen.

I haven't heard much from barclaycard, except to say they are unhappy with the £42 I have offered them, will see what happens.

Have are you doing blue and gargrave? and everyone else?

hello to all on a self managed DMP.
I just wanted to say don't give up and don't give in to the companies that say you can't do this alone. We have run our own for the last 7 yrs and have now nearly finished paying back a debt of £61k (about £600 to go).
It took a while but all of the banks and dca's eventually stopped interest, and all leters and phone calls stopped and we managed to pay some F&F's at a reduced rate. I really like being in control and deciding what is best for us.

good luck to everyone, the thing I really like about this board is the support and info that everyone freely shares, wish I had known about this place when I started.

    Thanks churchrat,

Wow a self managed DMP 7 years ago must have been more difficult to convince creditors was feasible than it is now! Well done, fantastic success - you are almost debt free. I wannabe you!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi all, I have been out of the loop for the last 6 weeks as have been trying to find a job, which I now have at last! so in the meantime I have managed to keep up communication with my creditors, though I am in a similar position as Kat as Barclaycard have now sent my details to a debt collection agency. Why is this good?? and what should I now do?? should I write to the debt agency or to Barclaycard? so far I have only Halifax and Santander who have accepted my offer of payments, the other are still charging me and asking me to pay the outsanding payments in full. I spoke to capital One yesterday and offered to pay the the full outstanding amount which is the smallest debt of around £200 if they would refund all charges, they point blank refused! should I make this offer in writing?

Thanks in advance for any help:)
