sorry was getting confused with egg money - that is free.... obviously if you're in credit and you take money out the atm they can't charge you interest - can they! But cash withdrawal fee's would be refunded, anyway, even then for £500 you'd pay back no more than £4 quid which aint the end of the world now is it!

OP - glad you got it sorted.....

How? In what way is "Overpaid a Capital one CC" similar to Egg Money?

I never said it was fool..... I mis-read the question... does it matter? want me to check your posts and check for inconsistencies ???

I was on about free atm withdrawals when you;re in credit!

free atm withdrawals from which credit card company? Why on earth would they then get cash withdrawal fees refunded?

To the OP, take the option of a cheque or a bacs payment to refund the money. This happened to me and once the money was in my account they said it would be 7 days although I think it took less for the money to go into my current account.

The other alternative is to spend your next £500 on that card.

A months shopping and petrol will go some way towards it :)

I did the same thing a few weeks ago when I paid a lump sum off the wrong Capital One Card. I rang them and they credited what was left back to my bank account within a matter of days, no problem at all.

I seem to recall the wording of my Capital One card agreement stated that any payments resulting in a in-credit (i.e. positive) balance would be returnable. So the option of phoning up to ask for a cheque appears to be a likely one.
