our new digital aerial which was installed 6 months ago on the roof has been working fine but since yesterday the signal quality has dropped for BBC 1 and 2 and there is a lot of interference!!other channels are absolutely fine...any idea on whats wrong? i tried internal aerial and BBC channels are fine!!
Did the installer sell it as a 'digital aerial'? As the aerial doesn't know whether it is analogue or digital - it's the same, it just receives the signals in the air, the digital box is the one that then converts what it receives to a picture. All that happens with digital is they convert the picture to 0s and 1s and cram in several 'channels' in the space of one analogue channel.
What might have been sold is an aerial for a weak signal area, which as digital channels are currently on a lower power than analogue ones would have most likely being correct if you are a distance away from the transmitter.
The install should have also replaced all the cabling at the same time really.
Some digital boxes are prone to interference, someone made reference to switching them off and back on to clear them, it is a lot more common to have to do this with Freeview boxes than Sky digiboxes.
At least you have it fixed now you found the loose connection. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
