Nice unit, I have one as well, it has a very sensitive tuner, so I would still suggest that it is an aerial problem.

the guy who fitted the aerial did not turn up twice now and did not even bother phoning me to say he is not coming...i phoned him today and he said he did not think he will be able to do any thing as he does not think it is an aerial problem especially it is affecting only BBC channels...he said it could be an obstruction some where around my house...i thought that was rubbish as there are no obstructiions anywhere around us...any suggesstions please on what should i do next? Although i got this guy's address from yellow pages, he insisted on cash payment after he completed the installation and gave me no receipt and i feel that he is trying to fob me off.

If the internal aerial works fine then clearly hes not set the roof aerial up correctly (Or a cables not put in correctly somewhere inbetween the aerial and your tv?)
Sounds to me like hes just not going to help and as youve no proof he ever came im thinking youll have to try elsewhere (Though id certainly be calling 'trading standards' or suchlike if he point blank refuses to fix this problem)

We had a problem the other day with some of our channels retuning themselves after 5 seconds, also on a Humax 9200. We solved the problem by doing another automatic search for channels. It's worth a try in case yours originally picked up more distant transmitters.

Info on how to do this in on pGB61 of the instruction booklet - or thereabouts, if you have a newer copy. It comes under 'Installation'. Although it looks complicated, it takes less than 5 minutes.

As Rik suggests, I would report the installer to Trading Standards, he should investigate and rectify the problem.

I've had a look in the latest edition of the Television Viewers' Guide. They say to make sure that any 'in-line' equipment (amplifier, satellite box etc)is not faulty, disconnected or switched off. Also ask your neighbours if they are having problems receiving the same channels.

It seems unlikely to be the aerial if it has been working fine for six months, unless something (large bird or gust of wind) has altered the position of the aerial. Another thing that can cause a problem is the coaxial lead between the aerial socket and the TV set, which could have become damaged.

OOps, too late, but might be of use to anyone with a similar problem doing a forum search.

Glad you found out what it was, anyway

As I said ~ it HAD to be the aerial or a conenction inbetween the aerial and the tv
