beeka - lighten up!
read what it says in your own signature and get busy living0 -
I realise I didn't see the April Fools' message since I didn't use the calculator due to knowing it was a 'joke'.
To the ioscorpio, wish I could abuse you back in kind, ta very much.
Well, since I'm in the minority I guess the only option is to exercise my democratic right and switch this off to avoid seeing further flaming, and have unsubscribed from the newsletter.
I guess I see now why Martyn gave up trying to be a comedian and switched to this job...Get busy living, or get busy dying.

So if you're going to be so childish I could just say, 'ignore philandstuff above, it doesn't matter if it's technically factually correct, the damage is done the moment that the desperate person has clicked on the link thinking that there is help available - after all, this is a website and brand that thousands of people turn to precisely because they are desperate and looking for anything that could make things a bit easier, and therefore may not be looking at things quite closely enough.'
To the other comments to 'get a life' - equally I could say the same. I hate that this date is a licence for childish adults (yes you're right they are adults aren't they?!) to fill every medium possible with nonsense whilst grinning like some smug idiot who's done something really clever.
Well done.
Oh and by the way, if this was meant to be able to be seen as a joke then don't you think it should have directed to a board other than this one?
It really is a shame you have had to make something negative out of something that was fun. Adults are allowed to have fun too you know. I love Aprils Fools Day :j
As you can see, you are the only person who hasn't found this funny so perhaps you should consider that the reason for that is nothing to do with this joke, it's more to do with you and that you obviously have no sense of humour.
You should realise that as well as being an amazing money saving site, filled with a huge amount of informative articles and tips, it is also a fun and friendly site (most of the time!)

Beeka, on a serious note, I did actually find it quite an informative article on tax thresholds.
I didn't know Martin used to be a comedian, I have it on good authority that he started off as a researcher for the beeb!I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!0 -
I think we all need a bit of light relief in such stressful times; I enjoyed the article. Life is what we make it so try and see the positive in situtations and the good in people, now more than ever.
PS, if Martin ever does find a real tax loophole, we'll get him a knighthood...0 -
Very good one! LOL. We all need a good laugh in the current climate!! I too fell for it lol. Those who don't find it funny and come across as miserable and bitter had better be careful or you might die early!!
Yes, there are loads of people who are out of work and yes its a serious thing!! We still need a good laugh to keep smiling and keep our chins up. Come on we are British! We won't let the credit crunch get us down will we!!!!! Noooooooooooo!!!!

Brilliant! :rotfl:
I read the email at 1pm, and clicked on a link in a panic thinking "!!!! what have I missed!" but realised it was a joke as soon as I read the page. It cheered me up by reminding me how little tax I pay anyway, as I earn only just over the threshold!
