Sorry, I just need to vent
Got final offer rejected and i am feeling tired and exhausted in my soul.
The house was a probate since last year in market, no interest, then we decided to put our offer.. they dragged it endleesly after saying it's low, we then upped and then dragged it until today... still low. To which point we just decided to redraw as it was not worth the money and mental exhaustion:(
The house needs lots of work, double glazing and has visible damp everywhere, so we wouldnt like to overpay just taking all that into account.
I understand any of the parties can say no, but the fact that they are not straight gets me on. I prefer they say no from the beginning, so i know where i am. The fact that they drag answers will not change my position, either because i dont want or other cases because i cant invent money i dont have
The house was not even my dream house, what i am sad about is that all the offering, passing info, etc seems to be full of deceit and speculation... ( deceit as in if not happy with offfer, say it out loud, do not say we are considering it...)if they had told me no before i would considered other properties... but now i am 1 1/2 weeks later all dressed up and nowhere to go and with our EA breathing on our neck to renew contract for 6 months whch i dont want ( they dont do periodic, apparently)
God, I just need a house !!!!
Ok, vent over, I am down so please bear with me, thanks

change the circumstances of why they are selling and it sounds like somewhere i offered on- i lost 8lbs in weight and felt physically sick and barely ate for 3 days.

I guess you are right, there will always be something better coming along, if this was not meant to be:rolleyes:

Buying should be the fun bit! Know what you mean though!
Selling is just awful!
Something better will come along, it doesnt sound like the right house for you anyway.Pawpurrs x0 -
If it's a Probate sale, there are probably several people who need to agree. Getting people to agree, particularly just after a bereavement in a family is never going to be easy. At the moment I have seen three adult children who can't agree on anything agree that house prices are too low and they will rent out for a bit. I imagine there will be amazing arguments in the longer term...0

Come and buy my house! I will make you a cucumber sandwich too!Thought processes can be managed positively, so that they help you to achieve what you want, rather than hindering your judgement.0

tenke,
we're in early negotiations on something tricky too. DH and I agreed yesterday that it was a sign to be worried about that we weren't stressed! The thing we are offing is nearly the dream, but not quite, so we've set a pessimistic budget and we are prepared to be out bid. Its not worth us putting more on the line.
If ticked all our boxes then we'd be more stressed.
All I can say is, if its not the dream keep looking while you see what they are up to.
Good luck.0 -

You do realise that they can't "don't do" periodic tenancies?
If you sign nothing, do nothing then you automatically roll into one. No landlord with any common sense would evict one good tenant simply to get a new unknown one in.
Are these agents a member of ARLA? I think they are pressuring you for no good reason.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

There are some funny people out there - both sellers and buyers...
I agree with you, life would all be SOOOOOOO much easier and more pleasant (for everyone) if people knew their minds and were genuine and honest.
The house sounds like a lot of work and isn't your "dream home" anyway, so maybe it just wasn't to be: the sellers dragging their heels is just someone trying to tell you something
Don't get dis-heartened: get out there, find somewhere you love
Good luck

I offered on a house last week. Rejected. Also a probate. They wanted what the house next door sold for last year. The house next door had an extension and a loft and was beautifully done. This place needed everything doing to it.
I offered, offer rejected, I'll find somewhere else to buy. Even the agent was gobsmacked, he doesn't think they'll sell it for 10 years.0 -

Doozergirl,
I am fully aware they cant " dont do periodic", and basically we will have to challenge them on offering us a month notice (shorthold notice to get the property back, just because they insist on grabbing us by the balls!!! )
They didint tell us in time to renew or else, so we are in a periodic, but they say either we renew another 6 month AST or give them a month;s notice if we dont wish to renew.
We are good tenants, paying direct debit, taking care of the property ( we even professionally cleaned carpets on our bill, just because we cant leave in a dump)
Anyway, they are ARLA, OEA, etc subscribed, so i dont know where else more than trading standards to go
I guess this background has made me desperate for a house, in short time, so it hits me hard when it is a no
Hope this makes sense. what would you suggest we do with them, you seem to have some experience in property dealing0
