  • *Considering (but never done this) spending £20 to have my engagement ring cleaned - when my OH will do this for me with a small cloth and a toothpick!

If you take it to some jewellers (mine came from Ernest Jones, so it goes back there) they'll do it for free. Worth ringing in advance and saying "I got it from your .... store, and it's ready for its annual clean" How will they know?

:A I have to admit there's not much that I bought I could now tell myself off for. Maybe the gym membership two months before I got pregnant that only AFTER the twelve months were up I realised I could have got out of.

OH, on the other hand, is a demon for buying CDs. OR was, until he got his Ipod. He now buys single tracks from itunes at 79p rather than two or three albums (A WEEK, at its worst point). Can't say him stopping work at HMV was a bad point for our finances. Slowly slowly they're going on Amazon ...

Kids clothes too, I suppose. The blighters grow so quick the first three years that you spend a fortune just making sure they can be dressed! And SHOES!!! Little miss fairylights needs new shoes again - last pair were bought the week before Christmas at £18, and the next set will be something similar. If only she weren't walking already, she wouldn't need them!!! Still, they'll come at discount, so that's not as bad as it could have been.

I think I have done all of these things in the past...plus buying my kids toys that they hardly ever played with and ending  up giving them away.
