HELP Washing machine repair in Bicester

Our washing machine is getting a little temperamental at the moment... as in it gets VERY noisy when it's doing it's final spin, almost like it's overloaded but it does it even when it's way underloaded...
As I don't trust the OH to do DYI (Just please trust me on this one!) I need to find a cost effective repair guy to come do it for us
Any recommendation in the Bicester area? (Oxfordshire for those geographically challenged out there
)

Could be worn bearings. When empty press down on the inside and apply pressure. then slighty turn the drum from side to side. If it sounds/feels really gritty/gratey then it probably is your bearings. To repair them is a big strip down job and will cost anything from £100-150, so probably best to get a new machine.
Also check that it is sat level and doesn't rock from side to side or front to back. there should be some feet underneath to adjust it.
If you do get a new one I would suggest checking out https://www.euronics.com who are a big buying group but sell through good small independant suppliers. You will get a lot better service than Currys/comet etc!!!
Hope this helps0 -
Thanks Paul
Even a £100-150 repair wouldn't be too bad... it was a £450 machine which is 2 years old (JUST outside it's warrenty dammit grrrr) I will check the bearing thingies when I get home tonight and see if it could be thatThe bad noise actually stops if you hold the front door thing when it's going round at however many RPM
Don't know if that helps! Thanks for your reply tho!!!

Double check the guarantees if its only 2 years old. Turns out our had a 5 years parts guarantee. So when our 2-3 year old machine went wrong we called up the manufacturer...paid a £90 (yes £90) call out charge...and they ended up replacing the whole drum (including bearings) with no charge to us for the cost of the parts .Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

£450 is a lot to pay for a machine if if has only lasted 2 years. If a new one is purchased I would Also suggest a Bosch as they have long guarantees and are very well built. Our local repair centre charge about £28 +VAT for repairs (plus parts). Also a £5 pick up charge and same again for delivery, free if you take and collect. The problem is new ones are always getting cheaper and parts are dear!0
