I put a recipe for this in the £7 thread.
2 moments and I will paste it in for you. x
Ham and pea soup
3x tins of mushy peas 12p
1/6th kilo of gammon 67p
1 onion 8p
Pinch of salt and dried herbs and pepper 1p
2 x vegetable stock cubes 2p (Tesco value, 10pk 10p)
1 pint of water.
Total meal cost=90p or 15p a head. Makes 6 servings.
Home made rolls to go with soup.
500g bread flour 19p (1.5k bought for 55p at Lidl)
teaspoon of salt and tbl spoon of sugar approx 3p
300 ml of warm water
7g of yeast 8p (8pk of 7g bought for 64p at Asda)
tbl of oil 3p
Total cost= 33p makes 12 buns. Cost per bun just under 3p
I like to add a handful of seeds or cheese as well but this of course would effect the cost.
You may want to reduce the salt content of the meals as I am a salt addict.:o£36/£240

Thankyou! would I just bung it all in the slow cooker? could I use bacon instead of gammon? xJanuary Grocery Challenge £203.50/£200

I just put it all in the slow cooker on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours. I then remove the gammon and chop in to tiny pieces. Then blend the rest until smooth and add the gammon pieces back in to the soup. Check the seasoning. It might need a touch of black pepper.
You could use cooking bacon as well. This soup has become one of our favourites. I am going to keep making it with our 24 tins we have left.:D£36/£240
