Barclays cash card acc.

I have a barclays cash card account, but have heard they have changed this basic card to a electron card of some sort? is it true and will barclays change my card to this? im not asking for a normal visa debit current account just heard the cash card is a electron one now.
Im also a undischarged bankrupt.

I was only allowed a cash card when i started mine but they said if in a few months i go back and the account has been run well they would apply for me to have an upgrade

After the initial problems I had with opening an account in branch, I applied by post. I thought that my application might be denied if I applied for a Connect card so I applied for just the cashcard.

Once my account was opened, I called and asked if I could have a Connect card. They said I'd have to go into the branch (even though my account is centrally managed). When I went to the branch, the new gateway system said no (as expected) so they processed it on the old system which went straight through.

So to answer the OP's question, yes I think you can have a Connect card. Go to the branch and make sure they process it on the old system.

thanks. i wasnt sure if they would update my card with me being BR. i aint after a upgrade account just a eletron card if its on offer! x

Well you won't get an Electron card, you'll get a Connect card (which is a Visa Debit - accepted in more places). Just make sure they process it on the old system.

I also got a Barclays cash card when i opened the account, it was useless as could only get cash out. Despite reading other posts about the barclays cash card only letting you get money out at barclays (which i thought was true for months!) I was forced to try another cash machine once and it worked fine, then i used the cash card at any bank with no problems. I recently went back in to barclays to ask for a normal current account which they wouldnt give me, but they did swap my cash card for a (as above) connect card which is a visa debit. I have not ahd any problems using it in shops /online over the last year (am now discharrged) and hopefully will get a barclays account with internet banking! its really stupid how they wont let you ahve internet banking, surely thats good for keeping track of your money???

Hi Paul,

Now you have the debit card, you can register for internet banking. Just go onto their website and sign up for it

I have a cash card account and can access it through internet banking - it's great

hmm really?! i will give it a go, i asked about in the branch and said it wasnt available, i think i tried online as well... i will give it another go and let you know!!!!

Your branch is talking twaddle. If you can't register online yourself pop into another branch and get them to do it there - my branch actually asked me if I wanted it and they automatically registered me for it.

You will also get pinsentry with the connect card and on line banking. I'm just waiting for the connect cards (should be here soon)

This is weird?! it said i was already registered and asked to varify me/my card with that PinSentry card reader (which i dont have!)
Will give them a call and se if i can sort it out... cant believe all this time i have been without online banking and i could have had it!!! lol cheers for the help!¬
