you will never ever be in a stronger position in your life....take out of it what you can...good luck....i promised my wife a brand new mini for putting up with the wait....
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Well, in your position, and as a wife who has found rental difficult, for all kinds of reasons (it's not for the messy, for a start) perhaps the starting point is agreeing that you definitely won't move until your tenancy is nearly up, so that you decide about when to start looking. You don't know yet, presumably, what the next renewal will be, so it would be reasonable to say that when you have 4-5 months left, she can start making inquiries. Apart from that, I'm afraid I'm in the 'it's not just about money' camp. Nor is it a single market, so that average drops don't necessarily translate into drops of that amount for the kind of property you want. Maybe it hasn't bottomed for your kind property ... but maybe it has. If the other factors suggest purchasing again, and renting is more expensive than the interest on a mortgage, then perhaps your wife has a point.

Oh, and I agree with the people who thought it inappropriate to mention she was dieting. And in such a dismissive way. It may have influenced my response. In her favour.
    Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600
    Overpayments to date: £3000
    June grocery challenge: 400/600

Cant plant anything anyway as we have Deer in the garden every day from the farm land beyond our garden . lovely to watch , but they eat everything !!

Forgot to add the Deer hurdle the fence . The cat " Does One " strangely enough when they come over !!
  • Well, you've corrected that bit. However, I don't mind telling you that if my other half disloyally announced on a web forum (as you have) that I had joined the Fat Club, he wouldn't be getting any for several weeks. If then.

I dream of several weeks inbetween . Its more like Bi-annually , i.e Birthday and Xmas . Trouble being my birthday is in January

Just as a little bit of support for the OP, when I was at weightwatchers, both me and hubby used to joke about me being at the fat club.....oh and about the bi annual etc bit too!

He even used to threaten sales assistants with them having to deal with his PMT'ish wife and they would not want to do that...poor lads always used to be quaking in their boots by the time I arrived that they would agree to anything I wanted! :rotfl:

It was a sort of in joke between us which shocked outsiders, who couldn't believe he would talk that way about me (I used to call him grumpy guts so we were even)...but we used to joke about it.

Maybe the OP and his wife have a similar relationship and she knows how he jokes about things.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Brain is not into gear as yet LIR.....have to excuse me for my little errr moments.

Relationship going well although he is annoyingly unpunctual, disorganised in his plans and does things on a whim (when my life doesn't support on a whim with the kids)....apart from that, yeah not bad!
