Living together - what should I know?

  • When my now husband and I moved in with one another, and took on a joint mortgage, we drew up a living together agreement, and also made our wills at the same time.
That sounds like a very good idea - did you have to do it through a lawyer?

If I was paying into the (his) mortgage would I have any rights if the house were sold?

The only thing I would say is when you live apart you always put time aside to spend with your bf- when you live together you will find you dont spend as much "quality time" together.
That's something that definitely worries me - at the moment we live in different countries and see each other one or two weekends a month... I always feel like we're saving our best moods for one another!!!

Cleaning. Yep definitely realised it's a common cause of disagreements! When I lived with two blokes (flatmates I hasten to add) before I got so sick of the mess that we had to get a cleaner

Thanks for all the comments so far - lots to think about :D

How true is this? Sometimes it feels that even though you are together 24/7, it doesnt feel like you are really spending quality time together...

We drew up the living together agreement at the same time as buying the house, so our solicitor added it into his fees

She is a pathological duvet stealer and bed hogger.

But finding this stuff out about each other is half the fun! :p

My bf accuses me of this, he actually encourages the dog to sleep on the bed to act as a kind of paper weight for the middle...
But I've gone one better than just stealing, I can now steal his half of the covers from inside the duvet cover, giving my side all of it, and leaving him with an empty duvet cover on his side! I'm not sure he's enjoying the game as much as I am!
