you have to get a mallet and hit it every time you see it pop up .. it keeps children amused for ages .. you get points for a direct hit only though

Just make sure it's a rat popping back up before you whack it with your mallet, or things can get very messy ;)

Seriously, a flush and a couple of buckets at the same time might well wash it well away from your loo. However, I think the only real answer is Pest Control, through the Council. Where there's one, there are dozens (really sorry to put it like that at Christmas), and it's one for a professional to do, as you should get peace of mind at the end.
  • Didn't know they existed by fantastic idea. They come up from the railway line because the nighbour puts out bird food and won't stope. Total nightmare. Might let her sleep easier.

Just as likely there because of the dustbins and takeaways. One bit of birdfood won't support a colony.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Yup you are officially Rock n Roll :D
  • Oh I wish I had never read your original post!!
I heard the other day that these super rats can knaw through the waste pipe behind the toilet especially if it has a bend in it. The rats sit in the bend and knaw through the plastic and of course can come up through the toilet.
I have spent the last week or two getting over this dammed phobia - I can finally sit on the toilet - now look what you have done!!!
Its started all over again !!!
Now wheres the rat poison?? All over again:eek:

at the risk of alarming you more a rat can fit through a gap that you can fit a normal pencil through.

    They can't.

    Neither can a mouse.
  • Just had a thought. I have recently had some CBT therapy for a problem I had.
Do you think it would work with this toilet phobia I now seem to have?
Any mention of r--- and it returns
Dont know quite how it would work though
The basis of CBT is that "is there any likelyhood of that happening? how likely is it?"
"has it ever happened to you" etc etc

Can anyone suggest anything else please because I dont think CBT will work on the basis that it obviously does happen?
    Any help would be welcome
  • A mouse can fit through that small a gap - pest control from the council told me

So if I put a mouse in a shoebox and poked a pencil through one end you believe said mouse could escape through the 0.6 cm diameter hole produced?

    Really?
  • Yes the man from the council said so it must be true
  • Anyway its my phobia I am more worried about, do you think mice appear in toilets too?
