I had a mouse last year. I found that if I put a lot of peanut butter on the trap it managed to get it off without the trap going off. I then tried just a tiny smear of the peanut butter was better as the mouse had to actually step on th trap to get the bait and instant death!

So remember - less is more!

Ok, less is more, will try that tonight.

I genuinely thought there was just 1 as last time the traps were going off all the time and I caught about 5 of the !!!!!!s. I thought that at least 1 would have been caught by now.

Will go and read the long thread and then maybe head off out to buy supplies.

Can't believe it though, if it doesn't fancy the traps it's just eating my bloody house instead!

Live out in the country and USED to get them on a regular basis - bought those plug in sonic deterants off ebay - never (touch wood) seen or heard of one since. Know many people say they don't work but they appear to have done so for me.

Mice (and rodents in general) are very wary of anything new. Put the trap down somewhere it can be seen without disturbing the area around it. I have used bits of a snickers bar with success as the mouse will try to take the whole piece having to put more pressure on the trigger plate.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

We used humane traps baited with peanuts. Never had a Houdini mouse get away with the peanut.

A porridge oats box with a few oats in the base is irresistible to mice, left wedged behind the cooker\fridge or kitchen unit, with the opening top side, acts as a perfect trap, they get in no problem, but cannot get out.

I know this is effective as its how we accidentally found\caught and disposed of mice when I was a child.

Would they not just eat their way out?

If a trap is not working then it must not be sensitive enough, or you could stay up tonight and use a shot gun!;) Make sure you get the wide spread cartridge.

Admittedly the first lot I got in Home Bargains were rubbish. The ones I got from B&Q are the same as last time, they are v v sensitive. To rebait them I barely touch them with a knife to set them off.

You would think but NO, they become trapped in the box, but are able to jump out of the opening if you peek in, so be weary.
