Welcome aeb,
Gosh, it's all very recent for you, isn't it?
You will find lots of friends here, and plenty of people to help you through the struggles. and we love new babies!
(We started trying for a baby in Feb last year. My close friend's husband died unexpectedly, and that put a lot of things into perspective. No luck just yet, although I virtually convince myself this is it each month, and plan how to break the news to DH.)
We also love frigal B&B's by the sea, so we'll all be done for a holiday, lol! Mmm, a romantic weekend away with DH; now that may work!
You take care, and you too Taka and SL with your poorly arm. Hello everyone.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Welcome aeb!
I've had an incredibly long week at work so far, and am really looking forward to my holiday! H2B wasn't too impressed with me, late home 3 nights this week and one night away... Still, will try to make sure it doesn't happen again, as with travelling time I'll have done about 54 hours this week. Unfortunately my work doesn't officially include travelling time in working hours...
I will try and be good with the budget over the next fortnight. We're taking sandwich making bits for lunches and self catering as much as possible in the evening, so hopefully it won't be too expensive. The most expensive bit will probably be the petrol to Scotland and back!Live on £11k in 20110 -
welcome aeb!
I havent posted much lately but have been lurking away as usual...Havent logged all my spends yet properly, I never seem to have time but have kept all reciepts so will go through them all soon.
I'm very good at being frugal when it comes to 'around the house' and clothes and things for me & DH but when it comes to Daisy I find it really hard!! And just want to buy her lots of cute clothes etc  but then I remind myself that if I dont buy them, MIL willand I'll be able to save my pennies and stay at home with her for longer.
Am currently marching around the house, de-cluttering and sticking things on eBay!!
Hope everyones well xx0 -
Welcome aeb! I'm sorry for your loss.Skint_Lynne wrote: »Is there anyone else you can speak to about this, it just seems so unfair.:(((hugs)) Taka..... Sounds like B*****d Boss is sucking up to a certain PD
Lets just say I'll be having a long serious think about what I want to do next and where.
I am very glad Monday and Tuesday are Uni holidays! I do not want to be here at all. Oh well my grumpiness means my lab bench has never been clearer, cleaner or as well organised. This afternoon's task... my desk! Maybe my mood'll help with my planned decluttering weekend!:rotfl:

Welcome aeb and so sorry to hear about your loss. It must have been very hard for you to type that post, it brought tears to my eyes.
Glad to hear that you are determined to carry on, I am sure that with that fighting spirit you will achieve your goals, and your husband would be very grateful.
I am also 43, experienced loss, redundancy etc, etc, life can be just so so tough, but you just got to keep on pressing forward to experience any sunshine after the rain, and keep counting the blessings you have got and be proud that you achieved a happy marriage, which is something many people never experience. I know you will. Best wishes and huge hugs.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -

taka - Hope you're having a better day :grouphug:
sft - I must have missed the cottage news, I'm reading that congrats are in order? :T
sl - shame about the concert, I hope you gave your OH a cold shoulder :rotfl:
cw - that's a real bummer with the buses. They don't *think* when they plan these things out, I'm sure there are loads of mums who would use the bus as well but not if it's such a close time (probably thought up by a man)
aeb - welcome! congratulations on the pregnancy:j, but so sorry about your DH :grouphug:. We'll look after you on here! There are some very broad (and soggy) shoulders!
I booked the tickets for Chessington yesterday, managed to get 2 adults and 2 children tickets for £60 through an offer with netmums (normally £110 , or with special voucher £66).
Repotted some tomatoes and beetroot yesterday, put 2 beets outside in with the broad beans, came home today to find they'd been dug up and some odd smelling mounds on the dirt - bl**dy cat poo . I've now put a net over it but not sure if this will stop them cr*pping on my plants. If anyone knows how to stop them doing I'd love to know.Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £153.19 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -
Well, this afternoon I called Morrisons Customer Services (the head office type one). The lass I got didn't have a clue who would answer my query, so passed me to switchboard. They put me through to another lady who had a quick conflab with a colleague and informed me I needed Marketing. She tried to put me through, but came back to say the lady I needed was about to go into a meeting for an hour - but gave me the name and direct number so I could call back.
Phoned the number about 90 mins later, and the lady was great. She promised to call me back, went and phoned the bus company, then rang me back within the hour. The bus company promise the bus gets back at 2:50pm - or 2:55pm at the absolute latest. Apparently there were several people there for it at noon today who questioned if they'd be back in time for the 3:15pm school pick-up before getting on...... so the bus company are aware this is an issue for/concern of passengers.
Will possibly give it a try next Friday..... Wednesday is out as I have a 2pm pick-up for younger GD, and Monday would be impossible unless I bought her lunch there (we get out of school at 11:30 and the bus leaves at noon) - but that would mean almost no time to shop and having a 4 year-old with me :eek:Cheryl0
