Yes it's real malt vinegar and it is 5 litres (just been and checked):D

Have seen some pickled onions and pickled eggs in shops in non brewed condiment so it must work okay.

Thanks Nykmedia & Skint Lynne for the welcome.

    I am in rural lincolnshire.

I need to curb my spending. I don't know where the money goes.

My master plan is to have a small cottage near the sea. Don't know if it will ever happen but everyone needs a dream.

SF - :j well done on the weight loss, :T well done on the lottery win. You seem to be doing good with things at the moment!

BB - that sounds like a good tip for using up left over cereal, do you think it would work for things like shreddies? Mmm, may have to experiment :D

ram_murdock - :j Fantastic that you've reached your target, keep it up. Good luck with the houses.

Nyk - I got some of those seeds as well, am looking forward to the beetroot ones, I love beetroot but never remember to buy it.

Today I repotted my tomato plants from their egg box home to pots - I've got 9 on the go. Out of the 9 carrot plants 4 survived. They don't like being moved do they? My chilli plants are growing well, was going to repot them today but noticed a new one was just coming up and don't want to disturb it just yet. No sign of the peppers yet, but they were only done last Saturday.

My budget is nearly all gone, well the first £4k of it and it's not even half way through the year . But on the plus side I've spent loads less than I normally do as I have been keeping an eye on my frivilous spends. Saying that I have just ordered a silver chakra ring from ebay, including postage it's only about £22

Butternut squash planted, there were only 6 seeds so I'll keep my fingers crossed that they all germinate. I had no luck with the pumpkins. To be honest, I don't even know what happened to them - they disappeared! Courgettes seem to be doing alright, though.

SM, thanks for the info re the vinegar! I love pickled beetroot (or boiled beetroot) and hope all my seeds grow, They are just starting to sprout now. I love pickled shredded red cabbage, too, and onions, and carrots... come to think of it, maybe it's the vinegar part I like best? :rotfl:

I'm getting in a flap because nearly half mine has gone and it still isn't warm enough to stop heating the place at least a bit. I'm going to turn off the last heater on 1st May, regardless of the weather, and cut down on the hot water being on. I must get into gear to start cooking overnight on cheap rate again, too. Spending so much time in the garden means the indoor schedule has gone to the dogs. :o

Friend popped in this afternoon to visit her adopted duckling - the Aylesbury. She's christened it Jemima Puddleduck and, if it turns out to be a boy, it'll be Jeremiah Puddleduck. The Pekin twinnies remain nameless, mainly because I can't tell them apart. :rotfl: Another friend coming over on Friday, maybe she can think of suitable names.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

The peppers seems to be taking their time, it could be that it is still too cold for them. Have you tried covering them with a clear plastic lid? That warmed things up for the seeds and they started to appear after two weeks...

    Hi NYK ,

Shaz, Mama67 and I will have to start the N/NE Lincolnshire branch of Frugledom. It sounds like we quite close. :j

I am still waiting for my Dig in seeds. If you didn't see Gardeners' world they explained how to plant the squash seeds perhaps you could see it on iplayer. I love the new program it seems aimed at those of us who are good with artifical plants!!!

    Hi everyone,

Not much to report, I was in Workington today, so a lot of driving. It was a frugal day, not much spent, 45p on a paper and that was for my mum.

I am knackered, so am having an early night. I am localish tomorrow but down south again on Thursday, I am getting to be such a globetrotter.:D

I did have a bit of a result today, I had a free lunch which was gorgeous, that's the upside to this job, you get to eat for nowt a lot of the time.

    Speak soon. xx

Right been having a little fun with spreadsheets tonight (in between all the stuff I'm supposed to be doing :o). I've got a working one for next month with all spend areas allocated. The next step is to make a six month one. I think I'm going to have to read up on the power of spreadsheets as I'm sure it can do more (and more like I want it to do) but time for that next month once I've got two lots of coursework out of the way!
