Cheryl, has your DS got his CV done etc? If he's not so keen on looking for work, it may be that he doesn't feel prepared. There has also been a lot in the news about how the recession is impacting that age group in terms of lack of job opportunities. He may just feel there's no point in trying than to be disappointed. Perhaps take him up to the frugal commune, see your new house (lol) and let aunty nyk and sm inspire him!
:rotfl:at taking him up to see 'my' new house in FrugaldomCheryl0 -
Wow you lot have been chatty
AEB nice to hear there's progress being made with the house ...................i prefer carpet too i think laminate shows too much fluff and dust and needs more frequent cleaning ......something to think about when the babies come as time will be short....on the other hand laminate is easier to clean especially with lots of kids .....sorry not much help was i really??..lol
Cheryl don't think IR have a problem with declaring self employed and then a gap before any work comes in iykwim ...........when i started up my business i spent £1200 on start up then didn't do any work for months ,benefits not affected as no income coming in...
SFT big hug to you sending positive vibes your way
BB been on any good bike rides yet? not found a 3 wheeler to have a test ride on yet :0(

SFT has a blog?? This I want to see! Hugs to you hun, moving house is very stressful and you do deserve some cuddles to keep you going. Everything crossed for Friday and the house warming
Great to see you aeb, and wonderful to hear so much work has been done on your house :T
Can't wait to hear about the bike ride BB :j (and I think it's 'fell swoop'...)
Any chance of posting a link to the 3rd house in the Frugal Commune Nyk?
Here's some news to make you all gasp in horror - OH treated me to a coffee and a slice of cake today at a lovely barge cafe (don't gasp yet, that's not it). The cake is indeed really lovely and you can actually order a cake from them... for TWENTY-FIVE POUNDS!!!!!! (Sorry Nyk, excessive use of exclamation mark perhaps justified?) I mean, really, I know I live in Baaaath and all that but would anyone actually pay that for a cake?!!
In other news, OH and I have decided (again :rotfl:) that we would like to live on a barge for a while, so we're toying with the idea of renting the house out for longer and renting one when we get back...Off to G00gle prices (we also have friends selling one next year ...)
Oh, and just before I go, I ordered the LPs for Nepal and Tibet yesterday :j through Quidc0 with a code of course14-18% discount

Can't you just tell I've never done any travelling to speak ofI've heard of those, and I think I once flicked through one in a bookstore, but I'm pretty sure we don't have a single one amongst the hundreds and hundreds of books in this house

Am so chuffed with ourselves, we have spent the past few hours (!) having a complete clear out of our clothes. I have managed to part with all the clothes that no longer fit me. (That is provided I don't run out and rescue them from the boot of the car). Some are more than 12 years old and haven't been worn since before DS was born! And all the scruffy worn out old favourites have gone too.
But I have found at least two new summer outfits that I had forgotten (crumpled up on the shelf and in DH's side).
Am very, very pleased with us.
I've never had a 'summer' wardrobe, but now all my summer clothes are hanging nicely, and can be moved on the rail. And my winter ones are folded neatly away. I feel all grown up, lol. (DH despairs of DS and I as we're really messy normally but we are gradually being housetrained).
I have also knitted 107 squares of 784 of my patchwork blanket. But not all today.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Finally put my June to Dec spreadsheet together. Nyk please can you include me on the challenge list I'm aiming to do £15000 all in for the year which works out as £8750 from now until Dec. I think I've got everything budgeted for to avoid overspends but we'll see. At least by doing this challenge it means I'm thinking more about what and why I'm spending.0

[Some of you have probably read that i have been looking for my first house and have had a bit of bad luck with sellers not accepting my offers etc. This wee a small development about 13 miles away from me suddenly released their houses for sale this week. 3 of the 5 houses have already been snapped up! Two are remaining and i will be completely gutted if i miss out on one of them. The bank were meant to let me know by friday if they would agree to the mortgage but they couldnt find my present address on the system - so its going to be delayed until tuesday! Fingers crossed everyone!!
Will also be keeping my fingers crossed for you x
Thanks everyone for such lovely messages of support...Laughed out loud about our party on Friday Whitewing..:rotfl:What a lovely idea and I will be so happy to have an online party with you all!
Much Love
