Hi newly!
How's everything going with you hunnie?newly wrote:Hi just a quick question for non-medial opinions from those who suffer....
When it is classed as depression?
When should you see your doctor regarding it?
I'm not suicidal, not self harming, carrying on with daily life but just fed up, sick of most things (apart from home/family life), snappy, tearful and stressy and really bored of my job. I know it's probably grief (recent family bereavement) and to be honest I don't want to go on tablets anyway as I've been told you can't take anti-hisitimine with it and I suffer really badly from hayfever
But I don't seem to be having many "better" days
I'm not a professional hun and I wouldn't give medical advice. But I do understand what you mean, newly. Many of us are unsure as to the borders defining depression from hard times, being over-stressed, grieving and feeling low. Indeed, I think these borders often become blurred and can contribute to each other. I can quite empathise with your grief angel - it's effects should never be under-estimated and it may sometimes also require some help to get back on your feet.

Sorry about that little detour, newly.
I think depression tends to affect our many parts of our life generally although there again, there are different kinds and varying degrees of depression. It's a kind of 'how long is a piece of string?' question really. You'll end up with a variety of answers to your question here, hun because we're all different. Depression is a very personal illness, hitting us individually and that's why there isn't a set 'cure' as it were.
So I guess I'd say that the very fact that you are asking this question, means it's probably time to go to your gp, tell them everything and ask their advice. You've got nothing to lose, angel and could probably get some peace of mind at least.
I don't know about the anti-histimines and meds hun, so that's another question to ask your gp - get the answer straight from the professionals. That's what they're there for, to help. On this point though, I'd like to say that most people don't want to go on meds but that it's very important to go to your dr with an open mind and consider and discuss all possible options with them. Meds are always changing and there is a wide variety, and if you and your dr agree this is the best route for you, then go for it. The dr should keep a close eye on your progress.
The best advice I can give hunnie, is to keep communicating with those around you if you feel able to and also with your dr. This can help stop you from feeling you're facing the world alone whilst everything is continuing at it's normal speed.newly wrote:I did some online CBT stuff and it helped me loads. Helped me realise when to tell others to stop because they were being unfair and when to tell my thoughts to stop because my head wasn't telling me the truthSo I've been dealing with things and not thinking every argument is a disaster and the end of my world.
I feel a bit better today. Went to a wedding at the weekend and caught up with a really good friend who I've kind of lost touch with when she moved, we realised we've missed each other. Got fed up of people telling me how sorry they were about the recent bereavement - I know they care and are trying to show it, but I was trying to think happy weddingy thoughts . Then had a friend of OH's down as he's going through difficult time at the moment. So been busy, feel very tired but a bit more content inside. Course that could all change in a couple of hours though
''Yes I'm fine, thanks.
I'm enjoying/ It's nice to be out/I've been looking forward to/I'm so busy/I'm going to/
with/to/for/and/from/about
the wedding/break/sunshine/gardening/night out/some retail therapy/catch up with friends/the chippendales/cat etc.''
If you're bright and chirpy, it could put them off mentioning your bereavement as they wouldn't want to bring your mood down, plus it gives them an indicator that you're ready for things to return to normal, iykwim? I've confused myself now - did that make any sense to anyone?
Regardless, this 2nd post proves to you that you are actually having better days now, on and off which is great. As you say it may all change, (as it does for everyone!), but just enjoy it for what it is and don't aniticpate anything, just take it as it comes.
Well done you with the CBT!It's good to see that you're looking after your own feelings and yourself and this can help you feel more in control.
I hope things continue to pick up for you hunnie.
Be kind to yourself angel.
Much Love,

Hi miro!
Afternoon gorgeous, how are you today? This is probably the first of about twenty replies to your posts, angel.miro wrote:Originally Posted by Sazbo

a, iii & 5?
I have Tiff's fan with me. His name is Harry, he's 38 and from Grimsby. He's bought some infamous Grimsby fish for supper.
You did mean this sort of fan, right?
You're quite right miro hun - there is only the one fan.
Hey - he told me his name was Bob and that he was 25!
If I'd known he was as old as 38, I wouldn't have encouraged him. At 44, the Tiffster wanted a toy-boy , not an adolescent.
Still 38 isn't bad I s'pose - and beggars can't be choosers, can they, Harry?
You've got a great sense of humour angel. Thanks for the giggle, miro.

Hi katie-tulip!
How are you, hun? You've been a little bit quiet recently, angel - I hope you're behaving yourself while your partner-in-crime, sazzy, is on the run, er I mean, holiday!I'm keeping my eye on you, young lady.
It sounds as though you had a lovely time with your family, hunnie and having a win on the tombola.Methinks you're quite a lucky bunny with winning things. And congratulations too on joining the ranks of being a published poet hun - that's wonderful for you and I'm sure everyone was really proud of you!
Hey missy - you stay away from those pubs and their dizzy water!
Are you still going to your karaoke sessions or your group, katie? It was nice to read all your good news angel.
Look after yourself and be a good little tulip for Tiffy now, okay?
Much Love,
Tiff xxx"If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought." ~ by Peace Pilgrim.***'You just got Tiffed!'***0 -
Hi guys!
Okay, where'd you all go this time?
I bet that katie-tulip's got you all down the pub leading you astray again, hasn't she?!
If there's anyone left out there reading this, don't worry - we always have these peaks and troughs with posting. You can start to identify those times eventually.
However, on the positive side, these quiet spots do allow time to indulge in two pleasures for Tiffy. The first one is of course...
Roll Call 2009!
Huge, moulting Tiffy hugs to...
