    Hi all,

New to this thread as it got pointed out to me by someone on another forum. Had depression for a number of times during my adult life. Came off some ad's about 6 weeks ago but due to the debt situation I have been feeling very low recently. I've just been signed off work (paid) am going to see a CBT Therapist tomorrow and have just started a course of new ad's. I think I've been denying the depression for a fair while - its time I admitted I need some help. Also I have a bad habit of using alcohol as self medication - I realise this is not the best and plan to stop this.

    Evening everybody

Got a couple of hours to myself as OH gone to meet his friend. I pretend to be miffed but secretly I love having the computer to myself LOL!

Have had a lovely relaxing long weekend. OH has been off Friday, all weekend and today, and the girls have been with their dad so it was nice and quiet. Me and OH even managed an hour or so yesterday to ourselves where we went out for tea and left baby with OH's mum... Turned out baby cried the whole time we were gone so don't think we'll be doing that again for a while!

The girls come back tomorrow so it'll be all chaos and craziness again! Feel a bit sad that OH is going back to work - of course he has to and it's the way of the world but it's been lovely spending that time with him.

My ex is off on holiday tomorrow for a couple of weeks so won't be having the girls for three weekends in a row. I know, I know they're not even back yet:o Thing is, I've always found it helps to have my weeks and weekends organised and often I find a week much easier to manage if I know I'll get some "time out" at the end of it. DD2 particularly has been a real handful since baby arrived (no coincidence I'm sure) so I'm dreading such a long stretch without a break.

Hi ad1jnl and glad you found the thread. I'm just about to pop off for the night, and I'm not sure if there's anyone else around at the mo, but come back again in the morning, as I'm sure there'll be more activity then.

    Stick around, everyone's very lovely!

    Hi ad1jnl,

I'm quite new here too, but i've found the guys really friendly. I've been signed off work, so money is tight, but the other threads on this board like old style moneysaving have been a lifesaver.
I've found CBT really helpful, I've probably had depression on and off for years but not really realised or admitted it.
All the best for your appointment tomorrow.

Beth this makes me I remember being moved to tears once by Melinda Messenger as she described the guilt she felt at having depression. On the face of it she had 'everything' - a great career, beautiful home, loving husband and family. People would say to her, "what have you got to be depressed about?"

Many years ago, when I was feeling utterly desperate, my mother said to me, "young people don't get depressed". Thing is, I know she meant well, but the guilt I felt stalked me for many years. Depression is something that can affect anyone. It's neither something we should feel guilty about, nor feel the need to justify. After all, we wouldn't feel guilty about having a broken leg, would we? Just my thoughts anyway x

OMG, I felt the same way back in the mid 90s. We had an amazing house but I wasn't happy. The guilt was horrendous. I had ADs and counselling and it really helped, I was able to enjoy the place for one year out of the three I was there. I thought my operation had fixed my hormones but it didn't, so felt guilty about feeling bad because of them because I thought it had been sorted.

I currently live in a nice house and feel so lucky and appreciative most days, I am allowed to have off days!

Since the clocks went forward, my sleep patterns have gone crazy, so felt so odd this weekend. I managed to get out on Saturday but felt ill Sunday (it didn't help us rowing in the wee hours of Saturday night/Sunday morning), he mowed the lawn to apologise. Stayed home today and took photos of our plants in our mowed garden, it was so cold despite it being sunny but got a bit of air and light exercise.
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:

It's about time I stated again, for the benefit of all our new clan members, that yes, I do know that I'm not a cat - so don't worry, that's not why I post here.biggrin.gif It's just that being the Thread Cat is all I'm qualified enough to do! wink.gif
Oooh and FYI, it was today in 1912, that the Titanic hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic and began to sink. See - I'm a veritable mine of useless information!yes.gif

It's starting off a lovely sunny morning here in deepest Warwickshire. I managed to mow the lawn last night so that anything that still had the will to live after receiving my tender care, could be seen.laughing-smiley-014.gif So all seems right with the world - that's the lawn looking neat for the next 3 days, the birds have been catered for, DS is in bed and, er...um...I really must get a life!waiting.gif

    Piccie? Oh, all right then!rolleyes.gif
