Sorry if I'm teaching you how to suck eggs, but I used to have loads of trouble cooking rice (usually it'd end up sticky) but since reading one of my cook books, I've been able to get it perfect every time. This is the method I use:

Allow 1/2 small cup for each person. Bring a large pan of water to the boil (no need to measure - just fill it completely), put in the rice (no washing it first), stir it, and keep the pan on a rolling boil for 10-15 minutes. Drain in a colander whilst rinsing with warm running water, and then you should have lovely fluffy rice. Another thing that my Dad does (but I don't) is to put it in an ovenproof dish after cooking, stir through a knob of butter, and dry out a bit more in a warm oven for about 5 minutes.

Anyway, I'm off topic, so who would like to join me for a HHC in a couple of minutes?

Thank you, sexymouse, I'll try your method next time, I had a burnt sticky mess last night, I could've used it as wallpaper paste!:rotfl: I've tried the Jamie Oliver method thats part boiling then leaving it to steam, last night I tried the 1 and half cups of water for each cup of rice..and I definately don't recommend that! I've been resorting to using boil in the bag & throwing half away cos the bags are too big..not very MSE..
Anyway better post something about flying else I'll be in trouble!

    Evening all,

Sorry I haven't been on earlier, but had lunch at my Mum's then have been preparing for my interview tomorrow all afternoon, so decided not to distract myself by coming on here until I'd done it all. Have written notes on all of the job specification that they've written will be included in the interview, including looking up a clean joke to demonstrate a sense of humour - this was very tricky to find a clean joke that was actually funny and didn't just make you cringe.

Have done a load of washing today since doing the bedroom list this morning, and also made lunch and cleared up at my Mum's. Hospital appointment was 40 mins late and the nurse didn't even apologise for the wait! She was fairly inconsiderate the whole way through to be honest, even starting off talking to my Mum and then running out into the corridor to join in a conversation out there in the middle of speaking, with no apology then either. She really hurt my Mum when she took off the dressing, and kept on starting sentences and not finishing them. I'm glad she's on holiday next week when we go again! Never mind, my Mum went to bed when she'd finished her lunch as the morphine and cocodamol tend to knock her out a bit.

Off to dinner at MIL's next door at 6.30 and I've just remembered that my Mum said I'd call my Nan about her shopping again! She's told her that I'll do it online for her on Ocado, but I've never used it before.

Glad the op went ok Triker, and hope that you can sit comfortably soon - have your kids got a rubber ring by any chance to sit on?

Hope to get online later this evening, but if I don't, have a great evening, and if you could, please send some good luck vibes over my way at 10.30am tomorrow (that's when my interview is).

    See you later,

    sexymouse xx

Evening all, I've had a really busy day today so only skimmed the posts so will just say a big hug to everyone who needs it - I know theres always someone in need of a shoulder (though mines still very sore so a one armed hug will have to suffice).
Rosepink - a huge well done to you, each time you do it is a huge achievement, you should be really proud of yourself!
With a little (lot) of help from my husband we have achieved ALL LEVELS FOR BOTH MONDAY AND TUESDAY and now decluttering a bottle of wine!!! Have a nice evening everyone.

Hugs Dusty, it must be so hard and stressful trying to do everything. While you are sorting out your Nan's place try not to worry too much about your own house. Would anyone be able to help you? Hope things get better for you. Don't forget to give yourself a little bit of time everyday, even half an hour reading a book/having a bath/going for a stroll or whatever you like. You have lost someone you love very much and are immediately terribly busy, so make sure you look after yourself and have a little time everyday where you can relax. Big hugs to you xx

Am in a bit of a state this evening - woke up from nap to find can hardly move either arm. DH had to help me to take my top off and put another one on! He's been really sweet and kind and sprayed it with a painkilling spray, and it's got a bit better. Feel really tearful and we are supposed to be going out. Really don't want to. Will have to decide soon, we are leaving in 10 mins!

I have caught up to pg.12, will carry on in a mo. I wanted to ask AnW'sMum(or anyone who might know), can you explain the dot 2 dot thingy for me please, I must have skimmed what that was.

T-K-D been to, did some studying there(bout 20 mins), so better than nothing. I have just checked my written list and the only things I have crosses out is hoover/mop/dust downstairs. Seems I may be busy tomorrow(the kitchen still looks good though....actually OH came home yesterday when I was in the middle of cooking an dthe kitchen was a mees. I asked him if it looked like I had spent nearly2 hours cleaning it, He said "no", oh, thanks. So he went to the pub and I did a 5 min S+S, when he came back later on, he said, "oh, you've been busy", hehe. So the point of my babbling is that I want to keep on top of this(I was starting to fall off the wagon) then it can be quickly done......

    I'll shut up now.......
