wetroom tiles. help needed.

Options
hi all we are going to have our bathroom turned into a wetroom. it is going to need 16 meteres of tiles. we were thinking of putting boarder tiles through the middle and about 8 inset tiles inbetween? but today we have seen tiles done like brick wall, stagerd.. aldo we saw plain tiles with a big border from floor to ceiling in mosaic that come on strips. was around a strip wide. it would be centre of the room, it realy stood out. but then what would you do on your other walls? yes you could do over your sink? but then what about the left hand wall? it would be plain white tiles. anyone clever enough to give me some good ideas please? im disabled and realy dont want it to look like a hopital or clinical. i just want to feel normal. we have also purchased a glass shower wall. thanks all.

saffiesdale, As this is basically an aesthetic problem the best thing for you to do is google 'wetroom' under google images, or buy a wetroom magazine and lift ideas straight from the pictures;)

Personnaly, I think borders are going out of fashion.

Personnaly i don't like inset tiles, i think they're dated.

as for plain white, try to go for an off white, plain white can be too harsh. Eg- the first photo shows a grey wall white a white sink, toilet etc. That white toilet and sink is an off white, it has a slight ivory thing running through it. Also, if you were to use a brown/beige/cream wall, you would use an off white with a tough of ivory through it, never pure white/

I wouldn't pattern a white wall at all saffiedale.

OH NO!!! mine is being tiled on Wednesday!! STOP STOP Fashion police!!

Lol how can a bathroom be fashionable? I don't know. Everything in my bathroom has been bought only for practical purposes except my border :(

Kavanne, i wish i was as strong minded like you, but i'm a slave to fashion. It's everywhere and it's hard to resist.

We're having oversize matt white tiles in our ensuite laid in a brickwork pattern with pearlescent mosaic on the floor. No patterns; it doesn't need it. I think borders are dated also. Mosaics are good for the floor in a wet room as it's easy to get the tiles to follow the slope.

Edit: hadn't read half of this conversation when I wrote that borders were outdated. Sorry Kavanne :o

Those tiles you linked, remind me on an episode of Grand Designs, where the owners cut the ends of coloured glass bottles, taped the 2 ends together and cemented them in the walls. It looked amazing when finished. Was a good idea for a shower wall.
