thank you all - think i pressed send twice - what is a pause character please?
Sorry, I should have explained, but Steve has. It varies slightly on how to get it, depending what type of phone - on Nokias, press * 3 times; others maybe hold * down, as Steve says.

0871 calls have never come from inclusive minute packages, or certainly don't now anyway - O2 charge 35p per minute.

good news - online bill shows calls were 0844 and included in free minutes - hooray!!!

am still trying to find the pause key - I've got a Nokia but a small p doesn't come up under the characters shown when you press * (there are 2 pages of it, one standard and one emoticons) - thank you if anyone can tell me how to do it

Sometimes you have to press * three times for the 'p' to display. Or, keeping your finger on the '*' key sometimes brings it up. Depends which handset you have.

    Hi folks

I've been trying to find out what non-geographical numbers I get charged for and which ones are included in my new 02 bundle too (400min x-net plan), and have been getting different answers from o2 customer services! When I first called up to enquire, I got a guy that said I would only be charged for 0871 and 09 non-geographical numbers which is the answer I wanted. But I tried to phone an 0800 number, and got a message saying the number was chargeable on mobile tarriffs, but to re-dial without the first 0 (i.e. 800....) which then went through but I don't know if I'll be charged for it. I diallled an 0844 number for international calling and it went straight through. I phoned up o2 to query the 0800 number, and they said they couldn't understand why I got that message and then eventually reckoned there was a bar on my account to stop 0800 access ("it's put on automatically") that she thinks she's requested to be lifted - should happen within 2 hours if i turn my phone off.

Does anybody know the truth, for definate?

I'd appreciate feedback, before I start to run up big bills too!

    Many thanks,
    Kuler.

Here are the details you require regarding 02:

"Inclusive call minutes can be used to call some non-geographical and special services numbers with the following prefixes: 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845 and 0870. Once the inclusive minute allowance has been used up, calls to these numbers will be charged as calls to standard UK landlines at the prevailing tariff. Some exceptions may apply and calls to some numbers may be free of charge.
Inclusive minutes cannot be used to call numbers with the 0871 prefix. These calls will be charged at 35p per minute at all times."

When I dial an 0800 number, I just get a message saying that the number is not free calling from a mobile, and to call again omitting the first zero. I do so, and get through, but will this cost me?

Cust serv doesn't have a clue why, so I guess I'm just going to have to wait to see what comes up on my bill.

Thanks for the info above, though. I just thought I might get a better (or at least consistent / knowledgeable) service from o2.

  • Hi Kuler,

I've had that problem on O2 when trying to dial an 0800 number...but there is a way round it. Just dial: 0200 222 0700, then enter the 0800 number, and it should connect out of your bundled
