    Good morning all,
been missing due to Talk Talk,Orange and BT-one of those don't ask jobbies, but no phone or computer for 10 days:eek:
Hope things are OK with you all.Things really are awful -and that stupid budget-don't get me started.
House nearly burst at Easter,4 extra adults and BEAUTIFUL g/d aged 2,loads of meals-all H/M,3 cake tins all stocked-D/S said it brought back memories of when we did Cub camp:rotfl:(I used to be a leader;))
    Still no one went hungry.
Bought a piece of brisket (by the inches-to fit in the casserole!!last bit for lunch today)£13 and it was great.Chicken, spag bol, pizza, roast veg lasagne, soup and pick it,potato wedges done in oven with cold meat,H/M bread all the time, went through my stock of H/M jams, marmalade and chutneys.Crumble out of the last of stored apples.Made a really sickly choc pud(Nigel Slater recipe)the one where you mix the stuff then sprinkle more on top then pour hot water on-must make it in a bigger dish next time as it overflowed into the bain-marie!!!Real yummy with H/M strained yogurt.
Consequently D/H and I are now eating all the odd bits that I put in the freezer, hopefully that can be defrosted soon. But as they say -the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

So MRSMC please put me down for £198.17 for April,£180 again for May.
Thanks to all who keep this thread on the road, great support.

    mrss

OK, here goes, my first attempt at the grocery challenge!
I'd like to go for £300 for May please Mrs M. This is for groceries, toiletries, household stuff and pet supplies for me, OH, DD2, and 3 dwarf hamsters.
£300 seems a lot but OH does like his meat and lots of fruit, and we all take packed lunches to college/work. I would really like to get this figure down though in future.

    Good luck everyone for May!

:eek::eek: OK, OK, now I need to be calm for this bit.

I've printed my bank statement, I've got my receipts and it's time to COUNT!!

EEEK, it looks like the calculator has run away in fright. Be back with the totals. In my defence it was Easter, 2 weeks holidays with DS, Mother's birthday and, more importantly, supermarkets who should be wearing masks for the prices they charge.

I have managed my target this month by £8 = £372, but this next month is an extemely tight month with weddings, birthdays, a parking ticket:mad:, dentist bill etc. so can you put me down for £280 for May for 2 Adults, 3 kids and a dog
  • Good morning everyone
well I have gone over my budget this month but did stock up freezer with loads of quality meat. Hopefully aiming for £150 in May GC
Have just started new job and will be travelling quite a bit. Would like to carry own packed lunch but a bit dubious of it lying in the car for hours. Have little lunch bag which I was going to put a freezer block into, do you think this will be o.k.? Really don't want to poison myself.
It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!

Would you consider freezing your bread? What I do with DS when he's having egg mayo for lunch is make the sandwich with frozen bread and wrap in tinfoil (which will take longer to thaw).

Ok, I already set a target for 200 for May but have spent all weekend looking through this OS board and now desperately want a Remoska!!!!!

I think this would be great as its just me and DS and I do put the oven on almost every evening for small things - pasta bakes, cupcakes, pizzas etc.... so think there may be a good saving to be made.
I will leave my limit at 200 but if I can keep my spend under 100 will be buying a remoska at the end of the month. Should (fingers crossed) be possible as have freezer and cupboard full of staples. Will really if good just need bread, milk, veg and........ diet coke!!!!!

OK, have done my best Carol Vorderman impression................ and it STILL stinks

I've counted and it comes to £461.59:eek:
However, £5.09 was for seeds and propogator at Aldi, £28.12 was Easter eggs, etc and £7.13 was for stationery things for DS and DH (need a fist shaking emoticon here). Gosh, can you tell I'm clutching at straws.

I'ver overspent in every single aspect of my month to be honest.
We had cut out fast food joints for about 2 months but have visiting at least 4 this month.
I'd been careful with general spending too but even this has failed me in April (I blame the modern day celebarations of The Ressurection).
I've done TOO MANY visits to the movies at mortgage-sized prices. Note to self and all that.

So, Mrs M, I'd like to declare April a RESOUNDING DISASTER at £421.25.

For May can I have £400 again please?

Well today my May challenge starts.
    DECLARING £186.49 for APRIL :):):)

Can I please put down for £200 again in May.
  • I have over spent by a mile this month, was aiming for £100 and spent £197.30 in April  How did this happen! Must try harder next month, I suppose it would have been a miracle to get it bang on my first time.

Ok my month will start on the 1st May and I'm going for £100 again-fingers crossed!
