April 2009 Grocery Challenge

EEk i've spent £110 of may's money already, on the plus side i have lots of food in.
I tend to plan my meals around which meats i've got and i currently have and i have enough meats for the entire month more or less (ill need ham for sandwiches) i also have plenty of rice/pasta/potatos tinned toms, beans etc so other then perishables i think im good to go.This months aim :- Stick to food Budget / find £100 for my car insuranceMay GC :- £250/£234.55 :T:A:TJune GC :- £150/£127.37:eek:0 -
Hi haven't done challenge this month as away please can you put me down for£240 for May will start again thanks.Save £4500 in 20140
-
Hi everyone,
Well I am declaring at £129.41 just under for the fist time in minths.
My month actually starts on Tuesday but I have no intention of buying any more food before then:rotfl:
Please could you put me down for £130 again Mrs M and thanks for all your hard work.0 -
Blown it this month  I've just totted up and am going to
declare at £200:eek: for April please MrsM.
On the plus side I have loads of (whoopsed) meat in the freezer for carniverous OH  I got to Sainsbugs last Sunday just as they were putting all the reductions on the shelf:D which pleased me no end and I can easily last the week out with what we've got in.
I think I might go back to a big online shop this month, I tried drawing the month's food budget all out at once and keeping it in a seperate purse but it wasn't a good idea:o and anyway Tesco are missing me 'cos they've sent me a voucher and a 'please come back' letter :rotfl:
I've not decided on May's budget yet, I'm going to have a sit down and re-do the budget so that I can (hopefully) save a bit more in most areas so I'll be back in a day or 2.........0 -
blinkin 'eck, I've gone over! went to Mr A last night to pick up a curry pot and bought nappies which were on offer - i couldve waited until next week so they come out of May's budget but they were calling my name! also got a few whoopsied bits for the freezer.
Am definately staying out of all supermarkets until thursday! So I will declare at £171.08. a little bit over by budget, but not bad going for my 1st attempt at this challenge. it just scares me to think what I used to spend before :eek:Jan GC £0/£2000 -
I had a £20 Tesco voucher from buying car insurance online, so I used that this week.
Hollysan - I got £50 when I signed up for Tesco car insurance online! It turned up today, that's my May GC sorted
I spent a ludicrous £1.65 on a bottle of irn-bru and chocolate bar at a uni cafe. I thought those places were supposed to be cheaper for us poor students?? Ah, well, got to sit and chat to a friend I haven't seen for a while, so I guess it was worth it.
Today I went to Home Bargains, and those straight-to-wok noodles that I love were on sale. Amoy, 4 portion pack (instead of the usual 2 portion pack in supermarkets) - 29p! I bought 2 sets, and would have bought more, but I kind of already have 7 portions in the house... need to have a lot of stir fries I think!
Not long till the end of the month now. Still a tenner-ish left but I don't see anything I desperately need other than a bit of lettuce.0 -
