I know this is a huge political drama at the moment, but addressing your point:

If someone is drunk on a night out, this may annoy you, however doesn't directly affect your health, whereas second hand smoke is proven to.

The main reason for the huge tax on it, is for the amount the government have to pay out on the NHS for smoking related illnesses.

It's also to help pay for the reduced productivity of smokers (more time off sick, unofficial fag breaks etc).

I don't drink alcohol, but I have to tolerate drunks when I go on a nite out, and I'm not happy about that. But I ain't calling for an alcohol ban. After all a slobbering drunk can be as irritating as a smoker can be to a non-smoker.

+ I guess if I want to kill myself through smoking, then fair enough, at least I'm paying enough money out for the privilage.

Come on that is a ridiculous comparison. A drunk doesn't do any harm to your actual health. Okay they are annoying and you walk away to another pub but hey that 'other' pub has smokers stinking me up big time and intoxicating my healthy lungs!!

This smoking ban is the best news ever!

good point. I AM a smoker and the fu**ing taxes I pay to have that privelage is a disgrace!. It will be a different story when there is hardly anyone in places once the ban comes into play!. I for one will not be going on a night out etc. because I can't NOT smoke!!!.

each to one's own I suppose, but think of the smokers who now have no choice now!!.Next thing you know they will ban selling ciggies, lol(doubt it) they rely too heavily on the money they make from them on tax!!. idiotic.
