but how would i 'stick' them together?? realise it would be cheaper but don't think that 2 singles would stay 'intact' or even flat!!
oh is a big bloke and turns a lot in the night - we have our own duvets (one double each) or there would be big problems about who was hot or cold...it's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:0 -

Good point. I've just been up and looked at mine, it has a nylon elasticated "skirt" to keep it on the bed. Just like a fitted sheet. I'm sure you could stitch them together some how.0 -
Thanks Bitter and Twisted, I think the rainproof trousers are an excellent idea. I meant the poncho type rain covers they have for wheelchairs, his ego is struggling enough with not being able to do much without feeling silly sat in his chair. All in all he is adapting well but it isnt much fun at the mo for him.
I think if I had a heated bed I would never leave itSounds wonderful !
Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

We use the plastic cling film type stuff on our windows, it's the one you hair-dryer and it goes all tight. The real downside to this is if it is hot of stuffy (coal fires are hard to regulate) you can't open the window, but it did last and it made a huge difference to the temp in the bedrooms.
The other big yes was walking the dogs when it got to cold to keep sitting, everyone liked going out in the snow and coming home the house felt warm again. Sitting around makes you cold. I go and do some work and my husband and son who are sitting on their computers are huddled up looking for me to light a fire when I am down to my tshirt opening windows. I was thinking of getting some of those bike things you cycle just with your feet and sticking them under the office desks! lol"There is no substitute for time."
Competition wins:
2013. Three bottles of oxygen! And a family ticket to intech science centre. 2011. The Lake District Cheese Co Cow and bunny pop up play tent, cheese voucher, beach ball and cuddly toy cow and bunny and a £20 ToysRus voucher!0 -
We have recently acquired an exercise bike so when the weather gets a bit colder and I start to feel chilly, I'll climb on it and do a 15 minute session to warm myself up instead of turning up the thermostat. Might work off a few calories in the process too!0

I'm also a hot water bottle fan - currently checking that all the stoppers still work, replacing the oldest ones, and knitting wooly covers for them (also a good way of using up spare bits of wool!)
My underblankets are the wool fleece ones, expensive at the time but have lasted almost 10 years, there is some warmth from the fleece anyway so they are only on in the really bad weather.
Having learnt from last winter, I'm ordering a load of wood for the burner soon, so that I can stack it and have it well dried before the real winter weather starts (and before everyone starts looking for their supplies. With more and more people putting in wood burners, there's a real demand for dry wood!) And all the trimmings from the plum tree are cut down and drying in nets in the garage, to be used as well.0 -
