What adjustments have you made at home to cope? And how are you managing the pain? I must admit, the thought of dealing with the pain of ten herniated discs instead of just two brings me out in a cold sweat
Ha ha merry I have lived with this for so long that the docs at first sent me for physio which was no good and it was only when I changed docs that she sent me for an MRI and she was amazed by the state of my back. She asked whether I had ever been thrown violently from a horse or been in a bad car smash which brings this type of thing on so bad.
I basically had to give up work, cant do a lot which is frustrating but, do manage to get about with the help of the car. It is standing in one place for so long or walking which causes the pain hence why I need the car.
I have tried all sorts for the pain, even down to being so out of it on some on them I didn't know where I was. I am now on a pain patch called Butrans transdermal which are a godsend. I change them once a week and can take naprosyn and paracetamol with them. Before this I was overdosing on 500mg co-codamol taking up to 16 a day hence why she put me on a patch but, I would recommend them as I don't have to take the chemist with me now when we go anywhere. Money Talks ...but all mine ever says is Goodbye! :rolleyes:0 -
Yeah I had physio and it did me no good at all
I'm on tramadol, diclofenac and diazepam for the pain, and gabapentin overnight. Tis a bizarre life, living from painkiller to painkiller. Like you, it's the walking and the standing still that causes the most pain - without my car I wouldn't be able to do anything.

tramadol, diclofenac and diazepam
Tramadol sent me over the edge. I couldnt stand up and lost all use of my body and diazapam, I would take and throw up 10 minutes after. When I told my dad what the doc had put me on he hit the roof. Money Talks ...but all mine ever says is Goodbye! :rolleyes:0 -

Are you taking regular diclofenac? If so are you on a PPI such as omeprazole or lansoprazole to protect your stomach. If not you should ask your GP for some.0 -

I've been on it for three years and she's never mentioned anythingI need to book an appointment with her anyway, to discuss my DLA application and her lack of assistance so I will mention it then. Thanks.

I only take diazepam when the kids aren't here - it means I can actually sleep through the night, whereas normally I sleep for three - four hours, then wake up with the painGet free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

I think my body is used to getting no sleep now. Nights when I do sleep my OH wakes me up snoring and then has the cheek to deny it in the morning. I have told him now that instead of just knocking him I am going to punch him so that he is awake too. I look like a bloomin panda with my eyes now through lack of sleep. There is many a night I am sat up with a wheatie bag and a cup of tea. The tens machine is also a godsend at times and portable. Money Talks ...but all mine ever says is Goodbye! :rolleyes:0

Oh yeah, I love my wheatie bags
I have three - one goes into work with me so I can sit through my four hours without screaming in pain, the other two come to bed with me - bliss!!!
