  • When did you start your application?

Sorry for the delay Merry in answering. I have been going through this process since first applying in 2006. I was turned down and then applied again in 2008 and decided to appeal where upon they have decided to give me a face to face. I have got an appointment with my doc this week to fill in the forms they are sending her so have no idea when the actual hearing will be.
I am so bloody annoyed with it all. Can you believe that they will not do anything about my discs as it is too much of a risk but they are operating on a 94 year old relative with one disc problem as she could be in a chair in 12 months.

UGH I detest football with a passion!!!!

I have to agree with you, there M_G. Having been brought up on Rugby, I just can't understand that any 'Soccer' match should ever take preference over Coronation Street when it comes to TV scheduling - fine - show the soccer, but on something like CBBC.

Now for all the 'true' soccer fans - I'm saying that with my 'tongue in my cheek'. :p:p

Originally applied back in January. Was rejected twice in record time, hence going to DIAL. She explained how I had filled in the form incorrectly, and recommended I go for face to face tribunal. She requested reports from my Dr and my surgeon (which apparently are less than helpful - still waiting to see them). I sought advice on the disability forum here, and they reminded me that it's not about the medical diagnosis, it's about what help you need with the disability as to whether you succeed in getting DLA or not.

If the triburnal fails, then I will apply again using DIAL from the very beginning. I have an appointment with my surgeon on 13th May where we're discussing the next move. Spinal injections did me no good at all :( and surgery is not something I really want because (a) when it comes to my girls, I'm it so I need to consider them, and (b) I am very overweight and obviously they're not happy operating in those circumstances. So we shall see

What adjustments have you made at home to cope? And how are you managing the pain? I must admit, the thought of dealing with the pain of ten herniated discs instead of just two brings me out in a cold sweat

I used to go to a friend's rugby matches - met Martin Offiah and did something incredibly sexist :o:o He was in shorts, and I was so busy staring at his fantastically muscular thighs that I missed most of the conversation :rotfl::rotfl:

Not that fussed about it on TV though, especially since man inflicted it on me a few afternoons too many
