They are testing your patience to the limits !!!
And being the sellers in current times... hmm they do deserve some walking out...just kidding, know you want the house;)

The vendors I bought my house from around 10 years ago wanted me to pay for their awful red carpet. I sad no so they took them, thankfully!
When I sold my last house 2 years ago, I left the carpets and blinds and didn`t even ask for anything for them. I also left the white goods and did ask for a token amount of £100. I never got paid for it but was happy that the house was sold.
House I`m living in now, carpets curtains blinds and light fittings were left and I wasn`t asked to pay for them. It didn`t say that they were included and they were less than a year old. Houses on this estate were taking a while to sell so I think they like me were grateful for the sale!0 -
I would think most people re-decorate get new carpets and curtains as soon as they can anyway. You have to be really lucky to get stuff that you really like and once the furniture and pictures etc are gone the walls and carpets never look that good unless they are very new.0

Viewed the house last weekend, the carpets are still there but they took most of the curtains, however, they did remove a curtain pole from the hallway and the backing board leaving 4 holes in the wall. They also took the blinds from the bathroom, the en suite and the cloakroom.
They left a few things they should have taken like a mattress, lawn mower and a record player.
We decided to just ignore all that in the interests of getting things sorted quickly and because they did leave the carpets in the end.
However, we went to the solicitors yesterday to sign everything ready to exchange contracts and discovered that the conservatory has been built without permission from the original builder. The vendors were the ones that had the conservatory built back in 2002. The builders no longer exist (we think) but the mortgage company have asked for an indemnity certificate which will cost £216. The vendors have point blank refused to pay for it and say we'll have to do it.
They were pushing for us to complete yesterday which wasn't possible due to the fact that the mortgage offer didn't arrive until yesterday so the funds can't be accessed until after the Easter weekend. We go on holiday for a week on Sunday (bad timing I know! Planned before we were buying a house). I requested that we complete week commencing 20th April when we get back but they want us to complete while we're away. That wouldn't have been a problem because we're going to rent my house out so no hurry to get out but I've now refused to complete unless they pay for the indemnity certificate.
I guess if they still refuse to pay we'll have to consider paying for it ourselves but I really think they have a cheek. They breached the covenant in the deed not us!
I think I'll go and lie down in Portugal for a week and forget about it all but they totally frustrate me!!0 -
i wish the people i bought from had removed their carpets and curtains.
would have meant 1 less job for me. they were in a terrible state and been down for about 30 years judging by the paper left under them!
It might be worth viewing again and paying attention to the carpets, are they really worth 1k0 -

If you have any doubts about this house - walk away - sometimes these things happen for a reason.0 -

freecycle the junk they leave rather than pay for a skip. (Or send them the bill for the skip)0
