The Conservatives will likely win the election. Not because they offer a credible alternative, and not because they offer an inspirational new direction or some great ideas - they will win simply by default. Enough time has passed for people to have forgotten about the travesty that was the last Tory administration.
The Tories are happy with their, quite frankly, obvious soundbites: too much debt, people need to save, blah, blah, blah. I didn't see the Tories spouting these cliches prior to the credit crunch.
This is a global financial crisis. It is affecting every major economy. It is affecting Britain - it would be affecting Britain if the Tories, Lib Dems, Greens, BNP or Monster Raving Loonies were in power.
I am not happy with the way that Labour is responding to the crisis. I think they should be harder with the banks (like ploughing Goodwin's disgusting pension fund back into RBS, to help keep its books balanced). I think they should have discouraged the BoE from implenting QE, and I think interest rates should have been reduced, but not to 0.5 per cent (because in six, twelve, or whatever, months time. when interest rates need to be increased to prevent hyperinflation, it will cause difficulties for those who've taken out a variable rate this year).
I think things will get worse under the Tories, which is a shame because Britain needs a right-of-centre, prudent, conservative (in the real sense of the word) alternative to New Labour. Sadly we don't have that under Cameron and Osborne.[strike]Debt @ LBM 04/07 £14,804[/strike]01/08 [strike]£10,472[/strike]now debt free:j

This is where we're spending Easter:
The great thing is it's just 3-4 hours drive away.
And it's doesn't cost anything to stay there. Just a tank of fuel to get there and a tank of fuel to get back.0 -
Generali, I'm pretty certain islandannie is one of Mr.B's sockys, seriously, the guy has about 10, how he does it AND make them all different is amazing to be honest, unless of course he does have about 10 personalities. Come on Broderick, own up.:D0

Generali, pity you couldn't have smuggled me over in your suitcase (you would have needed an extra large one anyway!), that looks absolutely gorgeous.
Much better than Great Yarmouth. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

It's in a local National Park called Jervis Bay (the 'e' is pronounced like in 'clerk').
Australia completely undersells herself. Everyone knows Ullaru (Ayers Rock), the Barrier Reef and all that. Places like this are unknown outside Aus for the most part however - even backpackers don't pick up on them.0 -

Labour is inherently unfit to govern.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

No argument there. The trouble is, so are the Tories. ****bags the lot of them. Can we not find enough space in our prisons for these reprobates?0
