Back to using a litter tray for Molly & Charlie.
Used to use the crystal types for Ted, they don't seem to be as good as I remembered:mad:
BUT on Saturday I got the Sainsburys City Cat one & it is:j :j :j :j
This one is MUCH better than the other white crystal types.
Do you use expensive stuff that lasts longers or value stuff & change it everyday?
The value stuff is not much more than £1 a bag, if I used 2 bags a week I would still be saving.
But even changed daily I think they smell:eek:
Where as the City Cat doesn't (but it doesn't last a month:rotfl: ).

I used to use city cat when I had my first cat and it did seem to last a long time... When we increased to 3 it just wasn't up to the job, we were getting through 2 bags a week... I now spend out on catsan which works brilliantly and lasts long enough... Although Mr Asda sent the wrong type this month and we're having to use Bob Martin's... It's no good at all, changed yesterday, wiffy today... Glad they have a full refund policy so we haven't actually paid for it!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... i use the crystals. it only costs us about £4 a month with no smell as opposed to a bag of value a week that smells! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

I use a mix of sawdust pellets and paper. When I had just Hannah, a bag of sawdust pellets lasted at least six weeks, but now Lucy is here, I seem to be changing the tray a lot more often... They didn't seem to sure about the pellets when the tray was first changed, but now we have a shredder and OH shreds all the junk mail and we put a handful in on top of a couple of handfuls of pellets and they seem to be more comfortable with that, just til the pellets swell up. Its messy though!DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

After much experimentation we use an expensive clumping litter...its called something like 'Moonliht clumping litter' for our two in a very, very large litter tray. Although expensive when we buy it it lasts extremely long time. Our cats don't like going outside, and so almost exclusively use the one, very large, lidded tray. I scoop it once a week and because this is the best clumping litter I've used I can get out the whole 'wee' without leaving bits behind. I think the last time I changed the entire box rather than my daily/twice daily scooping session, was at new year, but its smell free. Or infact, there is a sort of smell, it comes in two scents, baby powder and lavender, and sometimes the cats smell of the scent of the litter. The only problem with this is I do find it tracks a little, so the girls have a 'door mat' and I have to hoover daily.0

I use Tesco Valu cat litter and buy a bag every 2 weeks, changing the tray every day. I've got 4 cats but one only uses it if it's pouring outside. Works out pretty cheap really.
Am planing on making an effort to get the youngsters to 'go' outside when the weather improves but it's not going to be easy as I also have an OAP cat who doesn't go out much so needs the tray. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -

Found it online, love the idea of baby powder smell:D
Do you buy online or from a shop?0 -
I have gone back to using more natural litter: after all waste products are meant to smell it just means the tray needs cleaning! I do however use a covered litter box & change the carbon filters regularly.
I use wood pellets or the recycled paper stuff or Aldies/liddles stuff (mineral) or Ottos best. I normally have one clumping with one non clumping 50/50 - so it doesn't `set hard'.
& no I don't change it very often - I merely scoop out the `used' litter & refill - it gets a total change when I feel it's necessary - about every few weeks or so. & no I don't want any moneysavers telling me that I'm dirty & that my cats are suffering because of me thanks v much (we have been there before & I don't want people's opinions of me).0 -
We used the City Cat litter for quite a while with our house rabbit. Only thing we found was a) it ended up all over the house - seemed to get in buns fur and between his 'toes' and end up everywhere and b) not very absorbent - if he was weeing in the same place, the bottom of the tray would be saturated.
I know it is different for cats but bun much prefers wooden pellets.
The City Cat does last a long time though - Wilkinson's were stocking it for about £2.49 a bag - a lot less than Pets at Home etc - don't know if they still do it, haven't used it for a while.0 -
have got this citycat stuff, are you just supposed to ignore the yellow crystals? i am removing the dried waste, but can't see how it can last a month if all goes yellow?0
