  • My tescos have started a new line: Facial wipes and they are just 10p for a packet of 25.....Brilliant value and they are very good too! Huge thumbs up! :T

I used to love value noodles about 7p a bag in bacon or curry flavour, (used to be 4p but went up) The flavouring is optional as its in a sachet so great as plain noodles. Untill you see the calorie content, i'm not such a fan anymore.
Hoping the comping fairy is nice this month and the postman comes.

The Value noodles in my local Mr T's are 13p not 7p.

Value pant liners are fab! Much nicer than Always or whatever the name is. 30 for 22p
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
  • Necromancy time, huh? This thread does the best job of compiling the info, so it's probably the best candidate to revive.

    Good experiences:
    - Custard. Tastes great, fewer calories than the Tesco Light custard per volume
    - Lamb Breast. It's a little fatty, but then again, that's lamb for you.
    - Eggs. Medium sized, ok if you don't have any qualms about battery farming etc.
    - Flour is fine.
    - Pickled onions are very sharp, but that's how I like them. Maybe a bit on the hard side too, but still great for the price.
    - Mozzarella - like Sainsbury's, this is great on pizza, and costs less than 50p
    - Writeable CDs
    - Black T-Shirts
    - Mushrooms - dirty, but dirt cheap, and pretty nice.
    - River Cobbler - great white fish; poaches well
    - Mustard
    - Kidney beans
    - Peppers
    - Onions
    - Sprouts (if you can get a hold of them)
    - Carrots (oddly shaped; still quite nice)
    - Tomatoes (chopped, tinned)
    - White chocolate
    - Jaffa cakes
    - Rice
    - Pasta
    - Peas are indistinguishable from their far more costly peers
    - Tinned sweetcorn; can't tell the difference between these and the market leader
    - Pickled beetroot
    - Toilet roll
  • Tried the jaffa cakes today: they're not *awful*, but the cake itself is rather dry and stale. Might be worth a trial buy, as quite a few people here seem to like them, but I think I'll be trying some other 'value' Jaffa cakes beforehand.

My other half didn't like them either to be honest

Hi, I've seen a few threads for other supermarkets along the lines of reviewing the value range products to let others know as to whether or not they're any good, but can't find one for Tesco? Would really be interested in hearing what products people have tried from their value range and what they thought of the product, because I'd like to try more but am hesitant to just buy a load of products in case they taste of horrors!

One I can think of, I've used the tinned tomatoes. They're alright for cooking with (well tomatoes is tomatoes is tomatoes generally) but a bit watery compared to the next brand level up so need to be cooked more to get the sauce to be as thick and tasty.

If there is already a thread for Tesco value reviews then can a BG please merge :o

Ive used the value lasagne sheets, baked beans, tinned tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, basmati rice, raw chicken breasts, eggs, and cooked chicken chunks to name a few - all are very good and generally they taste as good as other brands. I know what you say about the tinned tomatoes - but I only ever use them in cooking so dont really notice they are watery.
  • Hi,

I only use tinned tomatoes for throwing into a chilli/curry/veg lasagne, and I find Tesco fine, though I think Lidl are better, the juice is richer, with the Tesco watery you can put a squirt of tomato puree in, but then that adds to the cost, so maybe better buying the thicker ones.
