good headlines for daily mail and the sun.
vandalism cover is free with Directline--is it part of the RBS?0 -
Goodwin is a totally reprehensible individual, but vandalism can never condoned. For one thing it represents the road to anarchy. Also the perpetrators appear not to be ordinary people sickened by Goodwin's arrogance and greed and with what he has got away with, but instead hard-left, anti-capitalism, anarchist types. Such scum need locking up and the key throwing away.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Seconded. If they hate capitalism so much they can sod off to North Korea or similar.0 -
The sooner the idiot gets it and moves his family out of the country as the legitimate penalty for keeping his ill gotten gains, the sooner the rest of us can move on to issues of importance for the future of the economy.
He can always fly in to sample the grouse moors and the golf courses, but his children's safety should be his priority.
"Darling, you going to have to make some new friends because daddy is a stubborn, greedy !!!!!! beyond comprehension....."
Normally I support the rule of law, but it was broken by Sir (and for God's sake get rid of that title) Fred and his chums on the RBS board.
Interesting to see that his neighbours are standing behind him (NOT).0 -

Main thing is to stop them wasting money like this now while being owned mostly by hmg
Agree except that it wasn't a private firm, was it? It was owned by the shareholders which would have included the staff and pension funds - amongst others. This kind of waste never does a company any good, it's really just taking the mickey from the staff and shareholders. It proves the rule that 'Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely'.
In my own Company, our MD has taken a 9% salary increase even though the rest of us are on 3% or less, and there have been massive redundancies (all nice payouts, but the rest of us have to do the work). (And I do realise a lot of people aren't getting salary increases - but why couldn't the MD have taken the same percentage as us?). I only got 2.8% and I was told that was pretty good.
The time for conspicuous wealth is now over.

regardless of what FRED did the vandals have right to do this, do they?0
-
He caused £10billions + worth of damage and is a free man.
The vandals caused a few £s worth of damage and may yet be incarcerated.
What jury would seriously convict them?0 -

They have committed a crime and so any jury should convict them. To suggest that they would be excused because they targeted Goodwin is completely ludicrous. I've yet to see any suggestions that Fred has committed any crimes even if he has mucked up the company he was supposed to be looking after and as a result damaged the UK economy.0 -

What we seem to be seeing though isn't really a reaction to Fred allowing RBS to fail, it is more just a manifestation of the attitude of hatred many in society feel towards those who are more powerful or wealthy than they are.
For example, what is the big deal about having a private jet with a personalised registration of G-RBSG.
I wish society and the media would stop pretending it is morally wrong to have a lot of money.
ARE YOU INSANE.....IT WASN'T HIS BLOODY MONEY!!!!
IT WASN'T HIS BLOODY MONEY!!!
AND HE BOUGHT DOWN ONE OF THE BIGGEST BANKS IN THE WORLD WHICH WE BAILED OUT!!!
AND THE MONEY HE HAS GOT... YOU, ME AND EVERYONE ON HERE AND IN THE COUNTRY ARE PAYING FOR!!!
WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND.
IT ISN'T HIS MONEY!!!!
NOBODY CARES IF YOU ARE RICH AS LONG AS IT IS !!!YOUR!!! MONEY, IT ISN'T......:mad:0
