any ideas who to go to next? Long story about Tiscali but just cancelled on the phone and will be disconnected 31st March. I am waiting for my migration code, been told it sould be here within hours but could be days.
I want to spend £20ish a month, need to have at least 3 email addresses, broadband, as fast as poss, not much downloading.
Thanks!

Seeing as this is Tiscali. I would send a confirmation email, and letter confirming that you have requested to leave (keep copies).
When I left them a few years ago. I cancelled the service, switched to broadband (different company), and stopped the bank payments each month. Three months later, I got a letter from a debt collection agency requesting my missing monthly payments. It took approx six months to deal with in all. It was only when I threatened them with my solicitor that they agreed they were in the wrong. Even then, I told the girl on the phone I would only believe them once they sent me written confirmation of their mistake.
Double check everything with this company! How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I used Tiscali many years ago, when it was worldonline and before that Localtel. Tiscali I call them the Italian Mafia for bully boy tactics, they had the check once to charge me for money they had of mine, along story. But I did get threats too of debt agency, I even sent them a bill once for them keeping my money but in the end I couldn't be bothered with the agro.
I wouldn't trust them and would do as Rex suggest and send via recorded0 -
how fast is your current tiscali internet connection? do you require a capped service (ie. no more than 2GB a month), or unlimited? would you like a phone service bundled in, if it reduced your internet subscription?0

Hi
As soon as you sign up with a new isp, you must phone Tiscali and cancel, I did exactly the same as you, cancelled and got my MAC Code, they issued the MAC Code but did not cancel my broadband account, even though they weren't supplying it and I had gone to another isp.
1. So get your MAC Code
2. Sign up with another isp
3. When your new isp takes over your broadband
4. Phone up and cancel Tiscali the same day.
As to who to go to next, look here and compare, and if you decide on one, ask here about them.

There are lots of Broadband speed and cost comparisons
However, I'm more interested in the 'After Sales Customer Support'
Any information?

Tiscali don't have after sales support, or any other support for that matter. No email support whatosver, everything is done over the phone. If you have problems, you have to phone a indian call centre, they use a premium number, costing 50p a min, and your usually on for about 20mins, they really make their money this way.
They really are the pits and one isp to be avoided at all costs. Dreadful service, unreliable and support non-existant.

Im still having problems with them.they are still tkaing £23.48 permonth out of my account per month even though they had agreed(verbally and by email) to me paying £12.99 amonth due to the poor service i havereceived off them.I would go to another isp but they hae put a marker on the line of my new phone number and are blaming bt who have verified it isn't them.i have no idea what to do next, i have contacted ofcom who have more or less said theyre the pits.i want to change but until this marker is removed i cant go to another isp so am stuck with them  "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

If that's what you're after then I can recommend my ISP - IDNet. Excellent customer support on an 0800 number. Rate highly in the adslguide lists too.frankallen wrote:There are lots of Broadband speed and cost comparisons

£14.99/month with 2gb cap.

Can a newbie ask two simple questions please? What is a MAC Code and why might I need it?
Thanks in anticipation

If you change ISPs you get a MAC code from your current one and give it to the ISP you want to change to. That way your migration goes smoothly and you don't lose any connection. In theory.mailedfist wrote:Can a newbie ask two simple questions please? What is a MAC Code and why might I need it?
