For future reference, if uncooked eggs are kept in the fridge they keep well beyond their best before date.

Thanks, our old housemate used to put them in there and it became habit. My mum thinks it's weird though and says it's not good to keep them cold, because of cooking them.

If you're boiling them they need to be at room temperature so they don't crack, also some recipes need them to be at room temperature.

A food hygiene/inspecter man once told me that you shouldn't keep eggs in the fridge. I can't remember exactly why now, something to do with the changes in temperature not being good.

I always keep mine in the cupboard as it makes it easier for cooking them.
